Nose: A round and creamy first impression. Ripe dark colored fruit, berries, vanilla, nutmeg and cloves. A touch of cider piquancy and an earthy punch. Flavor: A rather surprising jolt of freshly ground black pepper, on first sip. Sweetness, tasting vaguely of caramel and vanilla. Mouth tingling barrel spice, bordering on “hot”. A little thin in the mouth.
Aroma: Fruity and floral. Ripe dark fruit, dried peach and apricot, vanilla, nutmeg and light almond. There is a slightly sour yeasty note. Flavor: Hazelnuts, almond, vanilla and some pepper heat. Has some zip in the mouth, yet a creamy feel to it. Finish: Some caramel emerges on the finish, which is a nice balance to the lingering pepper heat.
