When I first nosed the glass I had a rush of memories of the first Tequilas I loved and why. This is a balanced masterpiece….background agave is always present through a hot cinnamon, floral sip. If you are fortunate enough to find one of these bottles, do yourself a favour and buy as many as you can carry.
I enjoyed this Blanco. I had it a few weeks ago at a bar during a celebration so the aroma and taste isn't fresh in my mind currently but I do remember it being agave forward, not offensive to my palette and pleasant . I made a mental note at the time that the Blanco was noteworthy enough to buy a bottle, have a proper sit down and reevaluate in the future. Side note: Marshawn Lynch's aunt suggested I try it because owned the restaurant where the celebration was held and when I was inquiring about what tequilas were available she informed me that he was involved with Tromba and suggested it.
Tasting notes on a range of tequilas relatively new to the U.S. market. These are all expressions produced from existing distilleries for third parties.

We sent 4 new-to-market reposado tequilas to our tasting panel to get their opinions. They were selected because of their different flavor profiles, and because we think they are good quality tequilas worthy of consideration.

Eric Brass had a dream, and that dream smelled like distilled sugars from the agave plant. “One day I said I’d quit my job, chuck it all in, and go for the dream,” says Brass, who left his career in asset management a few years ago to co-found Tromba Tequ
It has a nice gold color and a fragrant nose. I let it open up in a Chisholm Trail Stolzle Jarrito Tequila tasting glass for about 30 minutes. I then got pleasant notes of cooked agave, caramel and sweet oak. The agave is buttery and the caramel is light akin to caramelized popcorn. The sweet oak has some nice baking spices from the 4 months in American oak and the 2 months in French oak brings those softer sweet perfume notes. There are some lighter notes of pine and walnuts along with some light natural vanilla. Some faint vegetal bell pepper hides underneath. It’s a nice nose with many layers. The spices from the barrels hit up front but the buttery cooked agave note hits immediately after. Both flavors bring a pleasant natural sweetness. The barrel notes accompany and balance each other nicely. American oak can impart strong bold baking spices and French oak imparts a softer but sweeter profile. The combination of the sweetness from the baked agave and the oaks meld well. There’s some lighter notes of sweet peppers and the caramel from the nose. The flavors are very balanced. It’s a 40% ABV Reposado but it still has a nice presence. It’s spicy and sweet but not overly bold. I find this special release to be very enjoyable and unique.
