Organic bottle from Lote 001 from 06AGO2010. NOM1480 is an interesting place that makes a nice variety of product. This has quite a bit of agave spice of pepper and some grassy vegetal notes. Add some slightly bitter oak and this is a bold repo with a long tangy finish.
There are some off notes, sweetness smelling like vanilla additives but doesn't have a cloying effect. it has some oak and drying effects. It's fine.
40% abv., this bottle has blurry glass, I was told this was a prior bottling, acquired recently, tasted on 5-30-24. Color: light yellow. Aromas: light cooked agave, light acidity, hint of citrus, light lemon, hint of sourness, light agave fiber, the overall aromas have a "heavy" or saturating sensation, which make me think it might have very light addition of additives, also, the aromas are quite similar to a sample of esencia artificial líquida sabor humo that I have smelled before, similar but light, not intense. Also, the citrus sensation is quite sharp too, both on the nose and on the palate, more than an additive free tequila. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, citrus sensation is quite intense on the palate, it might also be the alcohol sensation which is medium to medium high. Finish is medium, hint of cooked agave, light acidity, light citrus and a light but lingering sweetness that doesn’t seem totally natural persists longer than all other flavors and aromas.
Unlike the other expressions this XA lacks an organic certification. Nice spice from the barrel and 3 plus years aging, some agave is still present and blends well with the oak and caramel.
