This stuff is awesome! Super earthy and vegetal. I get a ton of raw pepper, black pepper, grass, minerality and earthiness on the nose and palette with a delicious lengthy finish that leaves you wanting more. Really complex. I was also able to try it at over 120 proof and that was legitimately some of the craziest/delicious stuff I’ve ever tried. Love that they went back to their roots to produce it in “the jungle”.

Wow this is a fantastic high proof with a very unique aroma once you pop the bottle open. This is something special. You wouldn’t know this was 47% as there is no burn. Nose: cooked agave, Earthy, vegetal, grass, brine, minerals, grapefruit, and cinnamon. Palate: cooked agave, Earth, vegetal, grass, black pepper, citrus, cinnamon, mint, brine, and minerals. A great long finish with a nice oily viscous mouth feel. Truly a very special bottle.

Nose: Earthy up front, it lets you know that it came from the ground. Sweet agave sits at the core while light smoke rolls in quietly. There is a distinct salinity and a raw vegetal quality that makes itself known. A touch of burnt sugar hangs in the background. There’s also a slight malolactic character - it’s just enough to keep things interesting without throwing anything off. Palate & Mouthfeel: Sweet agave leads the charge - it’s clean, clear, and not dressed up. Earthy and green (like raw vegetal) notes come next, with a flash of citrus that gives it some lift. Anise and black pepper show up late and keep it grounded. Mouthfeel hits the sweet spot, neither thin nor syrupy. Just right. Finish: Medium finish. The black pepper and citrus bitterness linger, with the agave and earthy tones slowly fading out. Warm, clean, no bite. Final Thoughts: The flavors are honest and sharp, the production is old school and gritty, and the whole thing drinks like it was made by people who actually give a damn. And yes - the shredder is powered by an old Chevy engine.

The nose is earthy and powerful. Grassy, briney, on the palate, I bit Smokey, hints of Mezcal, sweet agave, green and earthy.

Simply spectacular in every aspect from the moment the bottle was opened and poured. Pungent, aromatic with a very macho bouquet of agave, the terroir, the cooking space, the water from the spring and the ABV. Super strong in the mouth, just grabbing the tongue and cheeks as you taste the agave you smelled at the first whiff. Sweetness is all present and then as the initial taste fades a very solid vegetal/mineral taste fades to some bitterness. I really like it a lot.

Super Cazcanes! Hint of smoke, tastes like cooked agave straight from his “autoclave” home made ovens! Juicy, mineral rich, bright, citrusy, has an almost effervescent tingling sensation on the finish that just keeps going. $110 for a small batch distillado, produced in the middle of nowhere, you’re grabbing a piece of authenticity at a solid price for such a special edition bottle. Am I slightly biased because I’ve been to the still site and got to meet Don Humberto and see it first hand? Sure, I suppose so. Say what you will about Cazcanes, but this is a special bottle and to see it go from a dream to reality and knowing that there’s a man/agave farmer/tequilero who made this become a product that people around the world can enjoy is special.

Really delicious. Earthy and a little funky. I’ve been out to this location multiple times and it’s always special to see Humberto working and the set up. I’m glad they brought this to the market.

Aroma: cooked agave, minerality, green bell pepper, tropical fruit, vegetal, dried brush, herbal. Flavor: cooked agave, vegetal, earthy, asparagus, bell pepper, herbal. At 47% there is hardly any burn but the texture is soft and oily.

Cazcanes Nuestras Raices is special. It has a great nose … cooked agave punch in the face! It’s earthy (like fresh rain), citrus, vegetal, pepper. First sip … big cooked agave, citrus, minty, lingering cinnamon and pepper, it has a light smoky finish but it’s nice, welcoming, not overpowering at all. Follow up sips are sweeter, the cooked agave is huge, cinnamon, kinda grassy. This is a very enjoyable pour.

Aroma: (24)Agave, Vegetal, & Herbal. Transported to a field of vegetables & grass. Taste: (27) Heavy agave & green vegetal, black pepper. viscosity like buttery/oil. Not over powering being 94 proof. Unlike any other tequila I’ve had, but in a good way. Every sip that agave gets sweeter, unreal. Finish: (22) lingering agave and green vegetal notes, very balanced. Overall: value (7) $99 from Wooden Cork. A top notch High Proof very agave forward heavy vegetal notes.

This is so unique and delicious. I tried a glass at the NY NJ Agaveclub Christmas party and was blown away. Now that I have a bottle I am crazy about this raw agave "moonshine" I feel like I'm in the jungle! Vegetable, Agave, Pepper, the flavors explode in your mouth. What a treat.

This one is very interesting. I’m picking up on a similar funky/earthiness that caballito cerrero has, but it’s a different hue. It also really takes you on a journey - starts with an immediate agave bomb, then turns vegetal then finishes a bit lemon/limey, maybe some baking spices in there too. Really nice lingering finish, velvety mouth feel. That funk remains present throughout, but in a really nice complimentary manner. I’m finding this to be one of the most unique and interesting flavor profiles I’ve had lately. I don’t think this is for the tequila tourist, but anyone with any level of appreciation for tequila beyond that, this is a must!

This definitely isn't for beginners. Earthy, raw hints of grapefruit and just a light touch of smokey notes. You're going on a ride with this one!

Nose: Earthy, vegital, light smoke, sweet agave, brine, molasses sugar, a little funk, Pallet: Sweet agave bomb, earthy, grassy, mint, grapefruit, cinnamon This is INSANE! Wow, flavor packed. Delicious in every way. Humberto is the GOAT. This spirit is bold, it’s loud, it’s unapologetic. It’s without gimic, technology, smoke and mirrors. It’s ALL heart, soul and magic. I’m super blessed to have a bottle of this and I’ll be cherishing it for a long time
