Not the biggest Anejo fan and this one while solid doesn't really move me. Standard barrel notes not very oily, some minerality and fruit.

This is amazingly complex anejo that has a great balance of sweet cooked agave and barrel notes. The variety of barrels brings the complexity and depth of aromas and flavors. An absolutely amazing anejo. Nose: sweet cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, butterscotch, cinnamon, baking spice, and cherries. Palate: cooked agave, vanilla, dried fruits, oak, caramel, molasses, black pepper, minerals, and butterscotch. This anejo has a great viscose mouthfeel with a finish that lingers and evolves beautifully. Absolutely love this anejo. So glad I was able to find a bottle.

Lots of fruit and barrel, really unique barrel impact that’s much deeper than typical 1579. What else uses German oak?!

Nose: vanilla/ sweet cooked agave / caramel/ oak / butter / earth / banana/ tea / nutmeg/ chocolate/ molasses/ almond Taste: sweet agave cooked/ pepper /vanilla / caramel/ earth/mineral /chocolate/ tea / lemongrass / peppermint/ baking spice / molasses/ cream soda Finish: very low viscosity mouthfeel covers the palate to evenly distribute rich lingering notes of agave, vanilla, caramel and pepper that sing equal parts in the chorus until the last swallow. This anejo is a superb example of a harmonious and balanced flavor profile. It has a singular taste that can also be tasted into decipherable individual flavors. The taste, nose, and finish leave you wanting more immediately.

This would normally get a 7 for value, but I paid more than necessary for it and I paid more for it than I did the Volans extra añejo a few years ago. Price aside, it's beautiful and near perfect.

Aroma is barrel spiced fruity agave with a sweetness that reminds me of the sniffed inhale of chomped up smarties candies and muted caramel butterscotch. Having trouble putting words to the flavor. It’s putting a spell on me. Familiar but enigmatic. Complex, refined, agave and spice without being hot. Very enjoyable. Finishes with some elegant back of the tongue tingle. Agave is still there, as is some minerality and spice. For me, oak is not the main character or even lead supporting actor. It’s just good! One more please.

Wow the nose on this is fantastic. Nice rich agave with nice minerals and butterscotch that flows into a nice fruitiness, slight leather and ends with a slight floral note. Taste Nice agave that flows into a bitter chocolate, slight oak and honey suckle

Nose is delightful, agave, creamy barrel hints, woody, sweet, just amazing. On pallet more of same, bourbon hints, sweet agave shines, wine barrels gives a nice fruity funk note, different oaks really playing nicely here, nice finish, just a wonderful blend, especially using 10 barrels, very impressive.

I saved this for my 250th tasting. What an awesome tequila. This now reaches my highest rated Anejo. The nose is divine. So well balanced with a sweet side and an earthy side. Great cooked agave, light vanilla and caramel that does not shout barrel barrel. I get melon and cherries. I get a touch of earthiness and floral aromas. On the palate, this is so delicious. I get cooked agave, again light barrel notes of cinnamon and caramel. I get a light touch of earthiness. Dried fruits come through. This went through multiple barrels and picked up greatness from all of them. As of this review, this is my favorite Anejo.

I recommend just relaxing and sipping this wonderful añejo. It’s a complex, complete gem. That being said, I still felt compelled to deconstruct and reconstruct my experience…. Nose: Volans añejo embraces both sweet, fruity and floral facets; and dryer, more herbal and earthy elements. The sweet side offers up baking spice, citrus, melon, mint and hints of vanilla and butterscotch. The earthier facet brings faint celery, lemon geraniums, minerals and thyme. Flavors: Great initial “pop” of flavor and spice, which quickly settles into textural creaminess on the palate. Both fresh and dried fruit meld into mellifluous harmony . There’s a tingle of heat as it goes down. Finish: A long bold finish with some dryness. The agaves marry perfectly with the 10 barrel blend of American, German and French barrel selections. Great balance.

Tasted at PNW Agave Club event at Little Water Cantina, Seattle WA, July 24 2024 VOLANS AÑEJO! It's here! And it is FANTASTIC! It's my highest rated Añejo to date, sharing my top spot with some special Fortaleza lotes!  Here's a little about the barrels and the process as per my discussion with Cristina. Volans wanted to build on their successful single-barrel reposado program. They started with 20 barrels, 10 were dedicated for single-barrel reposados released at different abv's, and the other ten were reserved for Volans Anejo tequila. This is a limited-edition Añejo consisting of only 2,700 bottles. Three of these barrels (2 German and 1 French) came from California and were previously used to age red wine. The other seven barrels came from three different distilleries in Kentucky that previously aged bourbon - Basil Hayden (4), Willett (2) and Heaven Hill (1), for a total of  70% American Oak, 20% German Oak and 10% French Oak. I want to note that they were wet barrels with varying degrees of char/toast, which were filled with 45 abv Blanco tequila for just over a year (filled May 3, 2023 and emptied May 15, 2024), then blended and diluted down to 42 abv.  Talk about a well-balanced tequila! Wow! The use of these ten special barrels and the mastery of Felipe Camarena, make this Anejo one of the best ever produced! Kudos to Chad, Cristina, Felipe and all who helped create this wonderful expression. tasting notes: GOT THE EL TESORO nose (tropical/banana/bubble gum) This is one of the best anejos I've ever had. So well balanced! On the nose - some barrel notes, agave, vanilla, cinnamon, anise. On the palate - brown sugar, creme brulee, but not too sweet One of my favorite profiles. Absolutely delicious. very well balanced. Fan-feaking-tastic!

Nose: amazing noise! Strong vanilla and caramel! Followed by chocolate, butterscotch, cooked agave, cinnamon, earthy, oaky! Palate: Great mouth feel, caramel and vanilla from the start, followed by cooked agave, pepper, chocolate, dried fruit, light smokiness and barrel/oaky on the back end. Finish: Medium-Long, the vanilla, caramel, alcohol linger for a good while! Great for the holidays! Overall, amazing añejo coming out of El Pandillo! A buy if you come across it!! Bought in Colorado for $109.00

Wow this Anejo was worth the wait, the American, German and French Oak Barrels created this wonderful Anejo, the Agave is still there with the barrel influence. Must buy.

Tried at Sabor y cultura bottle share ; first añejo I picked up and the last one I sipped at the end of the night Nose has a tiny bit of funk grassy with light allspice smell to it and sweet sweet agave The taste is very unique in the best of ways I get grassy earth tone with rich caramel I’m not a añejo lover but this might be one of not the best añejo I’ve had this year !

An absolute home run from Volans! This is a truly exceptional Anejo. Nose of butterscotch, caramel, toffee, natural vanilla and a hint of banana. Similar flavor notes with a little baking spice and chocolate with layers of oak. Like everything from Volans, this is absolutely fantastic. Congrats Cristina, Chad and Felipe!

Nose: Agave, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Oak, Thyme, Butterscotch, Artichoke Mouthfeel: Medium to Full-Bodied Palate: Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Raw and Cooked Agave Finish: Butterscotch, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Agave This was very very good. I get that same raw and cooked agave that I get with Terralta Extra Anejo but slightpy more vegetal. That signature minerality is there as well. This has got to be one of my Top Anejos to date. Marvelous!

Volans Anejo is a beautiful sipper. There's a wonderful zing from initial taste followed by a soft cinnamon/raisin/bitter chocolate note, as the nose is equally impressive. It's hard to distinguish this release as being "special," different from anything else, because it's not. A Wow factor is what I seek, but all I found was something that's just "good"
