Superb aroma! I thought I was smelling a great blanco tequila! Then some very light barrel notes came in… almost invisible. Notes of caramel, strawberry cream, root beer—Wonderful!! The taste is good and with normal characteristics of a light reposado. But what is surprising to me is that there is not an abundance of great Cascahuín flavor. The finish is a little weak as well. I love Cascahuín! I had big hopes for this one…maybe too high. A little disappointing from 1123. Loses points on price.
I mean it’s Cascahuin, it’s going to be great. But I vastly preferred some of the other barrels in the last reposado aniversario, especially for the price. Good to try but unsure I would splurge for a whole bottle.
Nose: cooked agave / vanilla / cinnamon/ cherry/ grapefruit/ lemongrass/ lavender/ baking spice/ Taste: agave sweet/ vanilla/ pepper / cinnamon/ pineapple/ plum / citrus / butterscotch/herbal / black tea / spearmint/ baking spice / Finish: wet snd sweet / super clean water feel / lingering sweet and very mild black pepper. A gentle bittersweet shadow remains as the agave sweetness falls away to leave a slight peppermint finish. It’s like agave liquid candy….that has just barely enough bitter and peppery flavor to keep the super smooth sweet finish in check. There’s a nice mouthfeel that leaves quickly. This expression could be a dessert tequila…the sweetness and the flavor profile pair with some diverse side notes. This expression isn’t a rollercoaster ride….it’s more of a ride at high speed with the top down in a Rolls Royce.
I’m a Cascahuin fan and this one is my favorite of Cascahuin. The aroma is terrific with cooked agave, light oak, vanilla and fruit. Taste is an experience to remember. Cooked agave is prevalent with a nice balance of vanilla, honey, fruit, anise and a bit of baking spice and cinnamon. This is a pricey tequila but so so good! After re-evaluating, I am bumping to a 92 as this is way too good not to do that.
Great aroma with cooked agave prominent supported by sweet caramel, stone fruit (esp peach and plum) and something like honeysuckle. Flavor follows aroma with multi-faceted sweetness and a subtle but noticeable spicy heat. Finish has a warm heat with almost a honey sweetness that lasts a relatively long time. 5-30-2024 Cascahuin triple - Tahona blanco, 11 Brix blanco and Siete Veces Diez reposado
Beautiful legs and mouthfeel. Barrel and agave on nose and some sweetness after letting it sit. Pepper hits mid palate and follows through on the finish. The higher proof is present. Nice tongue buzz from the high proof. Very nice but price hurts it
This is nice. Love the nice viscous mouthfeel with agave, hay, and pitted fruit. This is very nice.
Aroma: herbal, earthy, soil, pine, woody Flavor: earthy, cooked agave, honey, black pepper Really good reposado although somewhat subtle in terms of flavor. The only reason I didn’t give it a higher score was due to price of high 200 range
Everything I love about Cascahuin blancos with benefits! Aromas of cooked agave, black pepper, orange citrus, and vanilla. On the palate I get cinnamon, a little oak bitterness, anise, and citrus. A really special Reposado.
Delicious! The aroma on this is friggen amazing. Creamy mouth and tasty as well. Nice middle ground of barrel impact—just a touch of sweet and wood balanced against the high proof agave, more than Lagrimas and some others but not too much. Pricey though.
Thanks Doc Bollinger!! Such an awesome tasting pre BAT! First Amor y Perros from the QDJ bar and then this absolute gem bought today in Tlaquepaque. Great bite on entry from the 45% ABV, this speaks to me from nose through finish. Interesting production process as have several other recent releases.
Nose is pure bliss! Hints of fruit, hard to tell if citrus or stone fruit maybe a mix, creamy yet bold/bright too, other spices & herbs, maybe mint/thyme, its a very complex aroma, of course agave is there, some cinnamon/anise aromas as well. On pallet great mouthfeel, baking spice, agave, creamy/buttery, very light barrel notes in the finish along w/ nice kick of heat but in a great way, a warm hug to say goodbye. Delicious bottle, easy buy if youre lucky enough stumble across it.
Good, but not mind blowing as expected, unfortunately. Wild Common and Lagrimas Reposado’s are a step above this. I’m usually partial to 1123 but this is not really to the level of a limited edition we expect from the best tequila distillery in the World. Nose, palate and finish are nice but not outstanding. The bar is so high for Chava it’s hard to raise the bar every year.
this tequila is a blend of three expressions - cascahuin blanco, tahona blanco and plata 48, rested in American white oak barrels for 190 days and blended this is a very well-balanced, easy sipper nose: vanilla, orange, barrel spices, tropical fruit (? banana?), mild pepper palate: agave, vanilla, banana? mild pepper finish: medium with no bite but a nice warmth mouthfeel: silky 2900 pesos in Mexico (about 175 USD). i would have rated it higher if the cost was lower
Really great Reposado, finish was a little lacking for me, wanted a bit more POP especially when price is factored in here… this release missed the mark
Light spice and citrus notes, faint barrel notes on this one. Well made and tasty. Light undertone of cooked agave with a touch of cinnamon.
After further evaluation, adjusted to 88 since my video review
Pre swirl aromas: Minerals, cinnamon, powdered nutmeg, anise and almond/vanilla. A brief waft of juicy fruit gum, followed up with tropical fruit, green melon and tangerine zest. Post swirl aromas: More pronounced spice and fruit emerge. For now, only a mere suggestion of the 190 days of barreling. Spiciness with a clean, slightly acidic tanginess layers a soft roundness to the aroma. A touch of maple? Flavor: Kicky cinnamon, clove and pepper - juxtaposed aside a velvety, buttery palate sensation. Faint toasted nuttiness. Caramel, coffee, and toffee notes. Big sweet fruit and agave punching through, much like you’d expect in a Cascahuin overproof blanco. The barrel adding a veneer of warmth. Fresh. SVD has creaminess with a kiss of salinity that I find irresistible.
An elegant tequila reposado with layers of complexity. This repo shows true mastery and patience from the team at Cascahuin. Fully formed and exceptional. If you can find it, buy it and share it with friends! Salud
Aromas of dried fruit, such as apricot, vanilla and honey barrel notes in the mouth, and a lingering finish. Some minerality but a nice oily mouthfeel. Love that the barrel enhances the 3 blancos that were blended without overpowering them.
Bottle: Botella No: 5600, LOTE 444, 151223, #CASCAHUINEANDO Appearance: Transparent daybreak Full review pending…
aroma: definitely smell the barrel spices and aging, light caramel, pepper, vegetal, agave, beautiful harmony of spice and sweetness, balanced, hint of earthy taste: very soft texture, light agave, pepper, hot spice, vegetal, not a crazy blend of flavors/overpowering, butterscotch, barrel spice, light black pepper, a little hot, hint of vanilla, light smoke Finish is so smooth you wouldn't think it's a blend of higher proof tequilas. Very easy to drink and very pleasing on the palate. It's complicated both on the nose and the tongue but it's a symphony of flavors. Everything goes so well together that it really feels like this is what an aged tequila should taste like. Not one note is overpowering, coming back opened up some new scents and flavors.
This is amazing.
Bottle # 5570 The nose is beautiful sweet agave forward , amazing aroma The taste is amazing light pepper, cinnamon, Smokey almost mezcal taste. Soooo sooo good. Well worth every dime you pay for it. It’s hard to put a value rating since the price on the street is anywhere from 200-400$ Is it worth it? I will say it is very special and worth every sip
