Lagrimas el chiqueño blanco Nose is more grassy and vegetal than the other two lagrimas blancos, with mild anise and some of that cascahuin minerality we've come to know and love. The agave sweetness comes thru on the palate with some anise, cinnamon, pepper and minerality. Finish is nice and warm with minerality, anise and mild black pepper.
LAGRIMAS PLATA 2022 EL CHIQUENO NOM 1123. 46% AND RESTED 10 MINUTES IN GLASS N- AGAVE, CITRUS, MINERALITY, WHITE PEPPER, SOME VEGETAL NOTES T- SWEET COOKED AGAVE, LIME AND GRAPEFRUIT, BLACK PEPPER, CINNAMON, MINERALS MF- THIN YET OILY F- LONG AND PEPPERY V- NOT AVAILABLE IN MY STATE SO I HAD TO PAY FOR IT
Nose: cooked agave / apple / pepper / grapefruit/ lemongrass/ Taste: cooked agave sweet !!! / pepper / cinnamon!!! / vegetal / mineral/ brine / melon / citrus/ grapefruit/ lemongrass/ mint / Finish: slightly oily mouthfeel that’s enjoyable/ lingering sweet and pepper that leave quick to form a cinnamon like taste that is clean and minty This plata is so beautifully sweet and transitions to a fiery cinnamon and mint concert that has the volume up to 11. But in contrast, the nose is weak…not bad, but weak. It’s sad that this incredible tasting tequila may suffer a lower TMM score than it’s stable mate (El Sabino) just for not smelling better. I think the flavors of El Chiqueno are more in harmony and provide a better experience than El Sabino, but that broken nose just doesn’t add up the points .
Rated this blind for Fuerte Friday. I found this thin on the glass but the mouthfeel is fine. The nose was outstanding with a beautiful sweet agave with notes of citrus and mint vegetal and grass the taste shines too with sweetness and earthiness like being outside on a beautiful spring day with fresh cut grass in the air. Out of the flight tasted this night. This is my winner. More please!
A really great blanco.
2nd tasting from the set of 4 Lagrimas expressions. As opposed to the Palo Verde, this blanco displays more vegetal notes like green pepper and olive along with stone fruit & some citrus with earthy tones. Reminded me a bit of Fortaleza Still Strength. A winner!
Really solid sipper with vegetal undertones and notes of mint.
Another great estate from Lagrimas with nice clean aromas and flavors of agave, minerals, lime, herbs, and a nice spicy kick.
Nose: cooked agave, mint, minerals, notes of lime, and cut grass Flavor: cooked agave sweetness , citrus, lime, mineral like dry rocks, and a buttery mouth feel Finish: medium starts with sweet agave a and gets spicy
3rd night Bold aroma of minerality, fresh agave, smoke, ethyl, citrus zest, and very meek wisps of cooked sugar makes the presentation. Initially tasting, the palate gets dominated by minerality before fresh agave, smokiness, earthy, peppery bite ,sour grass, licorice, multiple types of citrus zest ( citron, lemon, orange etc.) come through. A striking taste of terroir flavor that is distinct from its predecessor. The finish is short with cooked sugar, grassiness, and minerals, that eventually leaves the tongue with a pleasant watery cleanness. Pure in it’s totality.
Agave, wet grass, minerals on the nose. Olive, brine, agave, pepper on the tongue, not as refined as its predecessor (Palo Verde). Minty, spicy finish.
This was absolutely wonderful. The nose is reminisce of G4 Madera, with regard to both vegetal and minerality, decent amount of cooked agave as well. The same can be said for the palate, I get a lot of vegetal and mineral taste with the cooked agave shining through into the finish. I received this bottle for Christmas, along with a 2023 harvest as well that I am also eager to try!
Lágrimas has been a surprise. I had not heard about them but that’s when the nom 1123 on the bottle speaks volumes. This can possibly on my Cascahuin favs short list there’s so many to choose from. I liked the mouth feel and just the right amount of minerality. I can say this about all the lagrimas
There is plenty of 1123 on the nose, with a good minerality, but this one adds a little more green vegetal agave. Good spice notes, and even a little alcohol punch but in a pleasant way. The palate is where this shines, starting with a green bell pepper note, rolling into great roasted and green agave flavors. The finish has plenty of minerality, a touch of anise, a decent salinity, and some sweet fruit notes that remind me of cantaloupe or mango.
Palette- agave bomb- really nice pepper on the finish/ big mint/ earthy notes Big long finish Nose- cooked agave/ earth/ white sugar
Vegetal, grapefruit, and minerals in the aromas. Citrus, black pepper, and grass in the taste. Finishes with mint, raw agave, and
Nose: Agave with a lactic funkiness hiding on the back end. Body: fairly watery but thorough Taste: Agave forward with a sharp spicy heat right behind it that trails off the a soft creamy sweetness
more minty than pepper flavor. Finish brings some heat but not a burn. good, but nothing stands out to me on this one.
This tequila is absolutely incredible. Something special that’s for sure
Grapefruit
aromas of hay, leather. flavor notes of anise, sugar cane, vanilla, smoky. long finish.
For $45 i paid solid bottle not worth the $70 it’s fetching in some areas. It is a simple briney blanco, not very sweet, no one overwhelming note its just straightforward and simple doesnt move the needle for me but at $45 I would grab again and make cocktails or neat, willingly share with others. Overall point is solid tequila look forward to subsequent releases from Lagrimas.
Aroma is earthy, anise, wet agave, alcohol, and herbs. Flavor- wet agave , earthy minerals, silky anise, olive, and it’s delicious. Finish is silky smooth with a bite from the alcohol but an earthy finish that is wonderful.
I just love this tequila. For me it's a near perfect blanco. But I happen to like the vegetal and fresh cut grass notes in a blanco. Just enough black pepper and bite to make it interesting. Only the high cost brought my score down to an 88. Well done Lagrimas and NOM 1123
