Vessel: Sniffer Nose: Vanilla, Oak, Almond,Butterscotch, Honey Suckle, Anise, Mint, Faint Cooked Agave Palate: Cinnamon, Pepper, Banana, Carmle Finish: Burnt Caramel, Oak, Butter, On the nose, there are so many sweet and fruity aromas all held together with more herbal notes like mint and anise. The palate is noticeably less herbal and more sweet with spice; banana, cinnamon and pepper come to mind for me. When it comes to the finish, it's a lit more robust than the rest of it. Oak, Butter and burnt Carmel dominate the finish here. This is for sure another winner from El Ateo in my book.
Nice nose. Of agave vanilla and oak. Fruity. Taste is cooked agave, vanilla and fruits.
Tasted at the distillery on BAT in the cava. This is a new NOM that seems to be doing things the right way. Agave are sourced from Guanajuato. Añejo is aged to no more than 16 months in former Maker's Mark barrels plus I saw some other Beam product barrels in the warehouse.
Nose: Lightly oaked. Barrel vanillin. Crisp citrus and minerals. The smell of sun warmed river rocks after a rain. Ripe dark berries. Perfumed guayabas, plump and ready to pick off the tree. A warm fusion of baking spices. Flavor: A dramatic punch of spices and pepper. Lighter colored tree fruit join the darker berries from the nosing. Viscosity, salinity and a balanced, round sensation on the palate. Ripe agave claiming its place in the sun. Aged for 13-14 months; a near perfect marriage of barrel influences and agave.
tasting at the cellar cabo 9/30/23 small pours and bottle was just opened so i want to revisit. Nose really enjoyed. fruity Palate good sweet agave citrus a little pepper some heat Finish good
Perfume aroma with flavors of spice, cherry, and slight tannic finish. It’s good, but I’ll pick the Blanco or Repo first.
Another nice expression from El Ateno. They start with a quality blanco and age it in oak to give it some spice and pepper. The viscosity is a bit light so may have been diluted/cut after distillation. I’m not a huge Anejo fan but this does fit the mold for a quality Anejo and a very good price.
Vanilla, buttercream, citrus and fruit.
Mainly getting cherry, oak, salt with this one. Short finish and not very complex pallete. Nose is better than taste. Good overall.

Nose: Maybe the most cooked agave I've ever gotten from a pour. Also pit fruit. Tongue: Agave, caramel, buttercream, minerality, a tiny bit of baking spice. green apple? For $65.00, this is a really nice bottle. There's nothing objectionable about this tequila. The bottle looks very nice. I'd say this is very good value for an Añejo.
Bourbon baby!!!
Wonderful roasted cooked agave on the nose. Cinnamon and roasted marshmallow like smokiness. On the pallet good oily mouthfeel, the cooked agave is right upfront with sweet cinnamon and a hint of bitter chocolate. Theres a smokiness that I really enjoy that reminds me of mezcal. The finish is beautiful, medium to long with a lingering of cinnamon and dark chocolate like. Fabulous tequila!
Mexican 40% abv. version, lote: L-060923AA, bottled on 29-09-2023, tasted on 9-10-24. Color: light yellow. Aroma: light cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light acidity, hint of citrus, hint of green tea, hint of herbal note, hint of fruitiness, hint of ripe apples and pears, this expression/batch is less mineral & herbal notes are not as intense as their still strength, thus, allowing more aromas to shine through. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet sour and citrus balance, a hint of brine or minerality, medium thick mouthfeel. Finish is medium to medium long, light cooked agave, light citrus, hint of minerality, hint of herbal note with ripe fruity notes persist. Note to self: drink this tequila sooner than later after serving, I feel that the intense mineral and herbal notes emerge as time goes by.
Tremendous bottle. Drinks very light, but has a big flavor profile. Fruit, doughy nose gives way to a very wonderful biscuity flavor with a nice spicy hit. Nicely balanced as the agave still comes through. Quickly becoming a favorite as I keep returning to it each session. Worth the $ and additive free.
Initially super smooth and you can feel the sweetness, finishing with a proper hit. Nice aroma in general.
Nose cooked agave oak. Peppermint GF says cotton candy :) Taste cooked agave, saltines. Mild menthol. Finish medium with medium pepper. Interesting I find the repo has less pepper.
Lot: 1 View: a greenish yellow, straw, golden, coppery. Freshly served; Aroma: lots of wood, minerality, sweetness and astringency, a little herbal, vanilla, copper. Flavor: herbal, much more than expected from an añejo. Wood, light vanilla, minerality, wood astringency. Sweetness and cooked agave. Very nice. I let it oxygenate for 15 minutes to allow it to open. Aroma: didn't change much. But it's definitely enjoyable. Flavor: It definitely opened towards the sweet without losing the rest of its qualities. Aftertaste: light and pleasant towards citrus tones of orange and black pepper.
Peppery, sweet, vanilla
Lots of sweet, dark fruit on the nose, as well as pineapple, grape and dark cherries. On the pallet, sweet, roasted agave, dark fruit, plums, and cherries, light, vanilla, and baking spices. This is a Lovely Añejo.

I’ve been seeing El Ateo pop up around me more and more as of late, so I figured I’d pull the trigger. The nose was not as expressive as I was hoping, yet after a bit of time to aerate I found notes of cinnamon, vanilla, cooked agave, light citrus notes, and a bit of minerality. The palate was where this spirit shined for me. A cooked agave center with subtle notes of cinnamon, vanilla, brine, and spice. The finish was mid range, with black pepper and cooked agave. Although it took some time to open up, I’m a big fan of this type of agave forward profile in an anejo.
