This one is good, but a disappointment after the sensational Blanco. Tasted at QDJ with Charlie. Maybe it’s the Guanajuato Earth playing with the barrel notes but there’s some interesting aromas that I’m not into. The aroma smells like there’s something burnt or cough syrup in it. The taste is not bad. There’s some good heat and flavor. But I’m still left with some of those funky flavors. Rereading my review it sounds like I did not like it. That’s not true, I liked it. I just kept trying to figure out the rather interesting, aromas and flavors going on. Overall this is a good Tequila.
The Reposado uses champagne yeast unlike the 2 unaged products which use ambient yeast and is aged around 5 months in MM barrels as is the Añejo. Some caramel and cinnamon initially with some hints of vanilla and oak from the barrel, this has nicely integrated flavor carried by the ethanol.
Last pour of a bottle, and may have been exposed to too much air. Will revisit when and if I get a fresh bottle.
Nose. Vibrant, robust baking spices and fruitiness. A sharp mineral nose tingle. Smoky, silky vanilla. Delicate hint of creamy butterscotch. Fresh barrel oak and warm citrus notes. Flavor: Fruit, spice and mouth filling zing. Salinity and poblano heat. Restrained and polished barrel influence. The edgy, Guanajuato agaves are the center stage star. A touch of wild funk. Sweet and savory harmony. (I’m told the ART levels for these family grown agaves from Romita were off the charts.) Medium long finish brings buttercream nuttiness in play. A sleeper brand.
tasting at the cellar cabo 9/30/23 small pour and bottle was just opened. so I didn't get the agave profile others have mentioned. would like to revisit
Notes of cherry, butterscotch, agave, and cinnamon. Fairly nice balance, light color, tasty.

Aroma: Slight cooked agave, cherry, dried fruit, chocolate, bit of spice Flavor: Fresh cherry, dried cherry, pitted cherry, cooked cherry… bit of oak.. Mouth feel is a bit on the thin side, very quick finish - smooth sip. Listen…it’s fine. If you’re looking for an easy drinking agave spirit, then you’ve found it. But, the agave is hardly present in this expression. It’s a cherry explosion that’s overly sweet and not very complex. I like taking chances on new expression and distilleries and unfortunately this doesn’t fit my profile. My mostly positive score is a reflection on its easy sipping finish. Could be nice for an expresso martini or a manhattan.
I bought this in El Buho in Tlaquepaque and it was a great price so more points on value. cinnamon, chocolate, agave, spice. I will definitely be buying this again.
Really good value, excellent Reposado.
Golden straw color. silky smooth legs. nice coating mouth feel. aroma, vanilla, and lemon also a little oak. flavor vegetable, vanilla, oak, and agave. finish is warm and minty. at $55 great repo.
OK…my new favorite brand for 2024? On the nose there are sweet oak, pear, pepper and agave notes. A smooth and balanced flavor with some spice, oak and floral characteristics. Warming and smooth swallow. Just a perfectly balanced reposado. What a bargain.
nose aromatic honey wildflowers citrus alcohol taste mineral honey spice citrus minty anise with warm finish less anise than the blanco
This is a very unusual expression fir the repo. Can tell it’s aged past a couple months it still doesn’t take on the oaky bourbon taste that could have ruined it. The sweet vanilla seems to offset and Ballance it just right.
This gets points for price and convenience.(a total wine product) It is oaky and vanilla. I think that is what people are positive about. There’s no alcohol burn or heat. Which is also positive. It’s described as additive free so maybe it gets it’s flavors from a longer aging and the type of barrel used. This is a little sweet for my tastes. I prefer the blanco.
Aroma: light agave, vanilla, butterscotch, light oak , chocolate Taste: big oak, pepper, vegetal, smoky, agave is there but not prominent Finish: thin mouthfeel, long peppery burn, there’s the agave, wait a few minutes and there is some hint of coconut noted by others Overall close to an anejo, especially on the nose. More barrel influence than many reposados Tasted with El Tesoro reposado batch R-025

on the nose caramel and cooked agave m followed by cinnamon. On the pallet cooked agave and chocolate notes with a little of bitterness that balances good. I get a slight amount of smokiness like a mezcal type very complex. The finish is medium to long with chocolate notes that linger until the end. Great tequila!
Nose. Agave and light honey. Mineralized and super light oak Taste cooked agave again light honey and peppermint Finish medium with less pepper than the blanco.
vanilla, oaky, one of my favs
Peppery, herby
LOT: 300523RA First of all I have to start by saying that this is a spectacular bottle. It is not, as in most cases, a generic bottle, but rather it is a bottle that this distillery had made for its products. The lid is made of some heavy metal, it could be some copper alloy and it fits perfectly, almost magnetically, with the bottle. On the label is the image of Hegel, an XVIII century German idealist philosopher. The text and the box are meticulously cared for, it is a well thought out development as an ultra premium product and it shows. El Ateo is made in Arandas Jalisco, but the agave is from Romita Guanajuato, bordering the designation of origin allowed by the CRT. View: a very light yellow, pale straw. The tears are consistent with a 40º. Freshly served: Smell: the aroma of wood is clearly distinguished, followed by cooked agave, minerality, black pepper. Taste: I notice a slight astringency of the wood, a vanilla tone but undoubtedly natural, I do not detect additives. Sweet and herbal. Aftertaste is mannered and a little citrusy, like grapefruit. I mix it and let it rest for 15 minutes. Smell: It opens and it seems to me that the main thing to distinguish is that the wood changes from being the main aroma to being herbaceous. However, the wood continues there and I can distinguish a bit of its astringency. I detect a bit of sweetness that wasn't there previously. Taste: The sweetness is expressed much more and is much more evident, now it is even difficult for me to detect the wood behind the sweetness but it is there with a vanilla tone, the minerality and herbaceousness is still there but as secondary and I detect a citric aftertaste, something like lemon, also in the aftertaste I detect wood astringency but in a balanced and pleasant way.
On the nose, sweet roasted agave, orange, light, oak, vanilla, a touch of light, baking, spices, Coco, and coffee. On the pallet, roasted agave, Coco, coffee, cinnamon, orange, pepper, a slight corn tortilla taste. Enjoyed the long finish.

Nose: Agave, Banana, Vanilla, Oak, Butterscotch, Natural Sulfur, Earth Mouthfeel: Light-Bodied Palate: Banana, Cinnamon, Cocoa, Agave Finish: Banana Cinnamon, Coffee, A got a lot of banana throughout. There was a sweetness on the finish and more robust notes and flavors like coffee and cocoa. This was a unique, sweet and robust reposado.
