The nose engulfs the influence of Oloroso Sherry barrels offering a clean and inviting leather aroma. Distinct minerality, characteristic of the brand, leaves its unmistakable mark, while tropical fruit notes and a whisper of light cocoa and cherry enhance the complexity. On the palate, the Sherry influence takes center stage, weaving together rich leather, clove, and tangy tropical citrus. Vegetal and buttery undertones add depth, while the characteristic dryness, reminiscent of fine wine, balances the profile. Subtle brine, peppery warmth, and a hint of cocoa create a luxurious gourmand experience yet there is an overwhelming reminder of matchstick sulfur as well. The finish is refined, as the dryness encourages the Sherry and fruit tones to linger on the palate. A delicate interplay of peppery spice and nuttiness leaves a satisfying impression. Well done.
Nose: caramel/ vanilla/cinnamon/ butter/ dried fruit / banana/ melon / berry / grapes/ tangerine/ mint / anise / tea/ baking spice / nutmeg / chocolate/ maple/ cream soda Taste: caramel/ grapes / cinnamon/ vanilla/ dried fruit/ citrus / spearmint/ anise / orange blossom/ baking spices / chocolate/ maple Finish: heavy viscosity with lingering grape, caramel, and cinnamon flavors / there is a distinct wine taste on the finish which is to be expected of something aged in sherry casks This anejo has a great nose that draws you in with a huge amount of aromas and many of them are quite bold and enjoyable, but then the heavy grape flavor comes in and sits down on the whole thing…it’s not overwhelming but is definitely a major flavor that’s not delicate. There is some hint of artificial sweetener and possibly glycerin as a thickening agent…it has a pretty heavy viscosity…but not syrupy. The flavors just need more balance.
I will occasionally drink Sherry although not often. This one has Sherry on the nose and very little agave. It has a slight medicinal smell. To taste, again heavy barrel influence. Agave is there somewhat but mainly oak and sherry. A bit strong on the alcohol burn. It is okay for what it is. I won’t be buying another bottle but it is a keeper for the collection.
While it's a little light on agave there a lot of good flavors going on in this one. Definitely lends itself more to those that like whiskey.
Tasty, but the nose is a bit dry and not very sweet despite being aged in a Sherry cask.
On first try I’m picking up aromas of oak, nuts, raisins, and rubber racquetball. On taste I get more of the same notes along with some leather and baking spices. Nice enough finish. This seems like a well made tequila with fancy aging and legs for miles, but it has a unique aroma and oak twang flavor from the sherry casks that doesn’t fit my personal preferences. In fact, I’m pretty sure the sherry cask has thrown me off on other tequilas.
Sherry/oak was heavy, but expected. Also lots of fruity sweetness (dried fruits, raisin, plum and caramelized apples) with spices sprinkles. Also got some early rancio charantais notes (nuts, leather, old book pages) A cigar pairing will be phenomenal with this Añejo
Aroma of oak, agave, and a slight plasticy scent. The longer it sits it definitely opens up to fruit and floral notes. Flavor is a little sweet up front, especially if your a non additive purist but accepting that its additive free, you stop fighting and just accept and enjoy it for what it is. Was putting off trying it every time it winked at me in the stores but Lou Agave's review finally convinced me to try it and and I'm happy that I did.
A rich, nutty, clean sweetness. A special anejo, especially for cigar or whiskey drinkers
When I rated this in a blind tasting, I scored it a few points higher than my initial score. When Patron wants to put out a good product, they can!
Had high Hopes for this one but falls short on the palate after a decent nose. Not very complex at all. Some agave and oak. A bit sweet then bitter. I still need to find the 1st duty free release.
Incredible aroma! Dark brown sugar and cooked agave mixed with cinnamon and anise. Wafting sherry is present as well. Taste is too strong with boozy sherry and some agave. Finish is good and balanced with aroma and taste. This is interesting but I’m glad I didn’t buy the bottle.
I think this would be better at 45% ABV. Quite fruity, this has an cherry cough syrup element to it that isn't sweet or cloying. Finish is very dry, as in vermouth dry and happens on the tongue tip and center. Very easy to swallow with not a bit of roughness or burn.
I like sherried scotch and I honestly think Patron makes a decent product. This just was a weird point between a sherry bomb and an añejo, it does not taste like tequila.
Nose of dried fig, apricot, blended with aromas reminiscent of mulled wine. Sweet, pleasant, and light across the tongue. Ends on a light burst of cinnamon and other mulled wine flavors, flavor dissipates quickly but leaves a nice warmth. A good blend of tequila and sherry influence, and a great winter sipper.
Aroma: Red wine, sherry heavy. Fruit, nuts, almost a touch of apple cider. The barest hint of cooked agave, and some almost cognac like notes. Very pleasant, round and soft nose. Palate: Oak and sherry front and center, stealing the show. Definitely getting some barrel spice but it’s so different than I’m used to, very heavy on the fruit. A spiced fruit note comes through. Very nutty, caramel and cooked agave on the backend. Surprisingly not as sweet as the nose would suggest. Verdict: I love it, worth every penny I paid. Truly a unique addition to my collection. This is definitely a sherry bomb, and if you’re into that, you’ll love this. If not, then not. I do, I’m a big fan of sherry finished spirits, so a fully sherry aged spirit really piqued my interest and I’ll have this in my collection as long as they sell it.
Wow, not your typical Patron Flavor profile, big Sherry notes of sweetness. Nicely balanced out dried fruit & slight cooked agave. A real nice sipper
Have had the opportunity to sample this on a few occasions. Initially I really enjoyed the Sherry cask influence on this offering. Patron is not a go to product for me, however this was certainly a nice alternative to the standards. This is surely not for everyone as the Sherry undertones take over on the pallet.
The sherry cask brings a nice layer of wine, with some nuts, ripe peach and fruit. This is a different aroma and flavor profile for Patrón, and is quite enjoyable. As you can probably tell from reading the other reviews, sherry cask aromas and flavors aren't for everyone. Usually brands will "finish" their aging in sherry casks to impart a light hint, but in this case Patrón aged it fully which brings pronounced sherry aromas and flavors.
Most definitely, you get the Sherry barrel immediately. It’s impossible to get much more than just the nose of Sherry. Still I do appreciate that since I knew what I was buying before I bought it. Well there is no sweetness, there is a perceived richness. On the finish it seems as if the Tequila is trying to yell it’s name, but the sherry taste still prevails. It is definitely a unique style, but I think this would be fantastic with either a cigar, chocolate or chocolate dessert or a cocktail.
Smell of agave and nuts. When together it smells almost like a bike tire inter tube. Not a fan of the smell. Taste is similar to the smell. Agave, some fruitiness, slight oak, and still that same tire mustiness.

Just too much wood. Not a “bad” tequila by any means, and pleasant woody spirit, no doubt, but the agave and earth are nearly lost. It starts turning into a Macallan.. considering this is cheaper than a Macallan, maybe this is the thing to do?
Solid tequila but overpriced for me and too peppery. If you like tequilas with a strong peppery taste and finish then this is for you.

Rated Blind - Previously Reviewed Patron is an expert at aging tequila. This Sherry Cask Aged Añejo isn’t finished in Sherry Casks, it’s 100% aged in Oloroso Sherry Casks for more than 2 years. This imparts a lot of color and flavor influence. The color has a nice caramelized deep reddish amber hue. - The nose is of full of dark fruits; figs, dates and Luxardo maraschino cherries. There’s some caramelized pineapple, pear, ripe bananas and bright citrus bitters. Dark raw honey and walnuts. There’s some hints of aged wet oak and brown sugar coated roasted agave. - This libation first feels momentarily thin on the palate but then the flavors fill your mouth. The Oloroso is very present. There’s a dark full bodied sweet but warming mouthfeel. There’s so many flavors; roasted nuts, cinnamon, cooked agave, earthy dark fruits and some soft warming chipotle pepper heat. There’s some dark cherry notes with hints of musty oak before the dry peppery finish. The pepper is muted but all of the flavors leech into the lingering finish. - This is a complex and unique extra aged añejo.
