Loses points due to being overpriced. As a result, I wouldn't recommend it. Nothing remarkable about the profile.
Light in aroma, taste, and finish. Not offensive, just bland.
Aroma: Sweet crème brûlée pie, cooked agave, light vanilla flan, and hints of allspice. Flavor: The aromas of crème brûlée follow through directly into the flavor, with notes of banana coming through and blending with the agave, well balanced. Finish: A very pleasant mix of crème brûlée again, with continued notes of allspice and cinnamon.
Stronger alcohol presence, a bit hotter on the palate. Really noticing the tannins present from the aging process in French Oak. Cinnamon and baking spices on the nose. Butterscotch, black pepper, and black tea on the palate. Shorter, tannic and dry finish with a touch of cooked agave.
Aroma/Taste – I detect a delightful blend of butterscotch, vanilla, and the aroma of cooked agave, accompanied by hints of walnuts and the freshness of rainwater. There's also an earthiness, reminiscent of mushrooms and yeast, with just a whisper of barrel aging adding depth to the bouquet. Finish – As the flavors unfold, the finish reveals savory notes of black tea and tobacco, complemented by the lingering sweetness of agave. Although the finish is relatively brief, it's undeniably enjoyable, with a subtle warmth of black pepper and hints of cola and anise lingering on the palate. Overall – This reposado exemplifies the art of gentle barrel aging, resulting in a well-rounded and harmonious profile. The essence of cooked agave remains at the forefront, beautifully balanced by the oak. Interestingly, I don't detect the typical bourbon notes found in aged tequilas, leading me to wonder if virgin oak is in play. Nevertheless, I appreciate the dryness imparted by the oak, making this a tequila I'd gladly enjoy on repeat.
This is probably my favorite nose of the heavier / oakier tequilas that are more barrel influenced. Cinnamon, baking spices, wood, moss. Smells absolutely delicious. The taste and finish are also influenced by the barrel. Another great tequila for whiskey drinkers. This would be a fantastic reposado to always have on the shelf
Nose- matalitic funkiness upfront right after the pour. After sitting it in the glass, it calms down and notes of cooked agave, pitted fruit like apricot cherry and red wine grapes flows through. Taste- the matalitic funkiness flows throughout and it’s very wine like (vinegar), with touches of ripe fruit and earthiness.
Bright agave with a unique nose, almost tropical. Lingering finish with a muted palate. Didn’t impress me. Loses points for price. Tasted with AF 2024 Blind Repo.
Warm wood notes on the nose with leather and tobacco. Sweet cooked agave, pepper and barrel notes carried by the ethanol lead to a pleasant lingering finish. Tasted blind for AF Reposado 2024.
Blind- Medium color, complex aroma: lactic, cinnamon, clove, baking spices, thyme, Taste: agave, cinnamon, clove
Overall - more agave forward w/ little memorable. Aroma - fruity. Flavor - hardly any barrel-like presence w/ tad of spices at backend. Finish - any flavors evaporate quickly.
tasted in panel blind repo tasting 03/2024 I really enjoy 1146 expressions but this had a little too much funk, pepper and some alcohol. deducted points for cost 160-USD
Nose - Agave, oak, dark fruits, pear, pepper, light banana Taste - Agave, spice, vanilla, honey, banana, mint, citrus, tea Unique taste, medium mouth feel medium to light color Tasting 2 Nose - Agave, oil, banana, pear, pepper, dark fruits/black cherry, oak Taste - Agave, spice, honey, lime, green tea, pepper Tasting 3 Nose - Agave, banana, minerals, dark fruits, black cherry, oak, soft mint Taste - Agave, honey, lime, sweetened green tea, citrus, honey, oak, pepper
Tasted at the Distillery
Aroma is relatively subdued. Notes of cooked agave along with caramel sweetness. Don’t really notice any of the floral notes so prominent in the blanco. Nothing particularly noticeable in the flavor. A little peppery spice, a little caramel sweetness. Short finish. Really expected more from this one. 2023-12-22
This was my favorite of the lineup so far compared to the Blanco and Añejo. Light and easy drinking Reposado with some cinnamon and sweetness. Tasted again blind: Pungent aroma I can’t place—not quite lactic or plastic, but it throws me. Flavors are a bit smoky with some agave and that strange aroma creeps into the flavor. Tasted yet again… raising my score. The repo is the best of the lineup.
NOSE: Cooked agave, light wood, and minerals PALATE: Punch of anise, toasted nuts, salted caramel, and cooked agave FINISH: Light Given the amber color of this reposado, I was expecting the barrel to overpower the agave, but was pleasantly surprised by how prominent the agave was still on the palate. It finished light. Cierto’s private collection reposado was aged for at least 11 months in ex-wine and ex-cognac French Limousin oak barrels of varying ages. The brand notes that it’s aged to taste not based on timeframe meaning there’s likely a 29 days aging variance between bottles if they are keeping an 11 month minimum to comply with the reposado classification. Given that this tequila is made at the same distillery with similar distillation methods to Don Fulano, it’s hard not to compare the two. Cierto and Don Fulano taste like first cousins, but Cierto is more refined. Don Fulano can have a hot finish that is not as prevalent in Cierto.
Appearance of straw/hat N- nutmeg, stewed fruit, baked pumpkin seeds, olive brine T- Smoke! grilled pineapple, clove, toasted oak, faint vanilla, honey, touch of maple MF- medium body F- Spicy sweet that lasts as long as I needed it to
Nose: agave, mint, alcohol anisé and cinnamon. Flavor, agave and cinnamon. Smooth finish. As the blanco it’s not a bad tequila, just very pricey for the experience.
Nice Repo, slight pepper, manageable heat, light sweet notes, pricey which makes it loose a point or two
Light vanilla, butter and fusel oil aromas. Dry and light flavor with a black pepper finish (with slight fusel oil.) Good but not as much agave as the blanco.
Vanilla and butter aromas. Slight caramel and hay. Agave and vanilla flavor. Not super complex, but easy to drink. Has a dry finish, but not as long lasting as the blanco.
Nose: Agave, Carmel, Vanilla Cinnamon, Citrus, Minerality Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied. Palate: Clove, Nutmeg, Cinnamon Finish: Nutmeg, Banana, Cinnamon, Agave, Black Pepper, Oak This is a relatively enjoyable brand out a respectable distillery. I just found that it was as well rounded as some of the more affordable options at 1146. Don Fulano Reposado is far more balanced, captures more cooked agave, is easier to drink and comes in at a MUCH better price point. My opinion is that this brand is a bit over hyped. Maybe my expectations were too high.
There's nothing special about this. Overhyped and overpriced
