jan 2025 tried mexican version at the cellar 35abv. very tiny sip. was decent
NOM 1616 | Nose: From the start, you can tell this is a Rosa bottle. Sweet wine aroma wrapped with pepper and fruit. Mild agave. Sweet and dense. Palate: Medium body with good depth. Sweet wine in the front palate which evolves into a nice peppery fruitiness. Clear notes of cherry, plum, pitted fruits and a little banana. Mineral element in the back. Finish: Nice clean dry finish. Worth a try if you’re diving into Rosa tequila
Nose: Agave/Rose/Flowers/Oak/Fruit/Minerals Taste: Rose, Vanilla, Cinnmon /Black Pepper/Fruit Finish: Vanilla, Rose, Fruit
NOM 1616 | I enjoy the Mexico 35% abv version which is a nice easy drink with a touch of barrel notes.
NOM 1616 | Price affects score: The smell is of Codigo yeast, which I do like and find is aromatically prominent across its standard line, fresh agave, brine, slight pepper but not stinging while the ethyl is notably faint, which I highly enjoy. The smell of wine is pronounced and tame mixing well with the agave. The taste of wine and agave when sipping is dominant, crisp and fresh with minerality. The taste of wine intertwines like ying to yang, never overpowering, always complimenting but distinct. The finish is wine wine and more wine but the yang of agave is present with minerality making both flavors last on the palate for more than minute.
Better than some basement brands but you can certainly find better
NOM 1616 | I actually really like this tequila. The wine barrel influence is light but real. Overall it’s a pleasant sipper. They recently released this in Mexico, at 38% abv, and I like it even more than the US 40% version.
NOM 1616 | Tried a couple single barrels and they were better than the blended batch I had a while ago from the last distillery. One was floral with tannin nose, follower with some vegetal and spicy jalapeño, slight bitter tannin. The other was greener on the nose with a softer (less spicy) palate and sweeter finish I liked better. I’d give the first an 80 and the second an 84.
Tried two different single barrels, both unique. I’ll average my rating between the two. One was soft and unimpressive, the other was decent and had pepper throughout. Interesting to try a Rosa which is rested in wine barrels.
Revisited this one on a blind taste test. Pleasant floral aromas blended with cooked agave, a light sweetness and a slight amount of alcohol. The flavors consist primarily of very mellow sweet agave, which lead into an easy drinking finish of light citrus, basil, and floral notes. Overall, a lot better than the scores would have you believe.
Floral, orange peel bitterness, agave, a little funk, and lingering spice.
NOM 1616 | Ummm anyone else get vomit on the aroma? Sorry George. I was eager to taste this one. I love when tequilas experiment. But this isn’t good.
NOM 1500 | The nose has that agave, and the funk from the blanco is mellowed out significantly. A little bit of floral notes and some fruit, some black pepper. Not a lot going on. On the palate, the agave is there for sure, but that funk I noticed in the blanco still is too. It’s milder but still there. The ethanol punch isn’t there, and that bitter chemical taste is gone. If you hold it in for a bit, there’s a nice bite of orange peel, which is very nice. Very herbal finish. I’ve caught herbal notes before, but this is distinctly rosemary and oregano on the finish, VERY interesting. All in all, this is significantly better than the blanco. The mild aging put in way more work than I expected. It’s still overpriced imo, there’s way better you can get at that price range, but it’s really not bad. They sell this at Target in California and it’s significantly better than most of what they have there. Still, while it is overpriced, it’s good enough that I’d be interested in trying the 1616 version.
NOM 1500 | Not bad. Different but straight. Definitely think everyone should at least try it.
NOM 1616 | Aroma: Strong notes of cooked agave, with floral notes on the nose. Taste: Very nice cooked agave flavor with a slight amount of those same floral notes as well. Finish: Smooth, citrusy finish, but with a moderate alcohol burn. Overall: A very nice blanco, that has the added bonus of the Cabernet floral notes added in. Makes a decent sipper, but is better used in making some awesome skinny margaritas.
NOM 1500 | Very very similar to the blanco but with a weird finish. It’s like drinking tequila with some tannins from the wine barrel. Would not turn down but personally would not buy a bottle.
NOM 1500 | Really not a fan of the nose on this one, decent enough on the pallet but won’t be going out of my way to have it again
NOM 1500 | Interesting barrel program, well made, shows great balance with little nuances of citrus and spice. Excellent base for cocktails.
NOM 1500 | Very hot for 40%, 1 month of cabernet barrels gives it nice color but doesn’t really do it any favors. Comes across as an immature repo. Certainly works as a mixer but not a preferred sipper.
NOM 1500 | Nice nose, sweet, but pleasant. Taste is agave, herbs, sweet rose, and a little heat. Not quite my cup of tea, but not bad especially considering the 38$ price tag @ Old Town Tequila.
NOM 1500 | This was labeled George Strait Private Reserve. This was exclusively at Costco, Las Vegas. It was not so good. Sorry George.
NOM 1500 | This Blanco is rested for one month in uncharred Napa Cabernet French White Oak barrels which gives it a pale pink color. The nose is fresh agave, citrus and some floral notes from the wine barrels. The forward taste is agave and pepper and then there is a sweet medium finish. While sipping I do get a sweet taste on my lips and tongue even though the agave is the strongest flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by this product and if you like a sweeter blanco then I’d definitely go purchase a bottle soon! Salud!
NOM 1500 | I like this. Aged for a month in an uncharred Napa Wine barrel there are no additives or color added. Aroma is wine elements of fruit, tannins and agave from the blanco. Taste is tannic initially both from the uncharred oak and the grape but turns to fruit and natural sweetness from roast agave and then finishes to slight bittereness.

Interesting rosé color in the glass. Obviously, the color comes from resting in the red wine barrel. Aroma of cooked agave, flowers, minerals and oak. Flavor of cooked agave, black pepper, oak, minerals and citrus. Medium finish. The rosé color adds some appeal for some.
