Aroma: Honeyed bourbon and sherry lead with depth, followed by dark cherry, roasted almonds, molasses, and a soft vegetal waxy edge. Warm wood and a hint of candied nuttiness round it out. Palate: Sherry and dark cherry dominate, (XA notes indicative of this NOM), joined by pitted apricot, green plum, and anise. Peppermint and vanilla seep through, with cognac, orange citrus, and red apple mingling with a candied yam and white chocolate richness. The high proof gives a sharp, respectful edge, noticeable but not abrasive. Finish: Exceptionally dry with light leather, persistent pepperiness, and a gentle fade. Mona Lisa in a bottle.

As others have noted this ultra aged añejo has an interesting dry finish.

Aroma: Very unique and not something I have really every smelt in a tequila. After nosing it for a bit I pick up chocolate and cherry but there is an inorganic note that almost smells like tar. Flavor: I get a lot of oak upfront and then some cherry on the back end. Finish: The finish is unique and leaves your mouth extra dry. It's something that I've experienced in a few tequilas and find it super interesting.

UPDATED 12/24/2018: Aroma is heavy with sweet fruit and even floral notes. Maybe even a little citrus in the aroma. A nice layered complexity overall in the aroma with even a bit of earthiness. The flavor opens with spice - cinnamon and pepper. A little fruit and floral flavor follows but not nearly close to the incredible complexity in the aroma. Medium finish that stays spicy on the tongue. 12/24/2018 - 6th Annual Xmas XA tasting

Amazing and world class just like any other Fuenteseca. Have this ranked behind the 12 and ahead of the 15, 8, and blanco. Need to try the 21, my toughest tequila challenge yet. Flavorful with notes of Vanilla, Chocolate, Berries, Cooked Agave, Mint, Cinnamon, Anise, Maple, Marshmallow, Rye Spice, oak, cloves, flowers, apple, cherries, and herbs
