Love this expression from GD delicious, sweet caramel and cooked agave, nots of light vanilla and spice. But the agave shines in this aged tequila.

Aromas of deep notes of honey, cinnamon, agave, aromatic baking spices, apple pie, and apricot. Comes through more as a lighter extra añejo, with a nice minerality. The flavors mimic the aromas, with those same notes of stone fruit, honey, caramel, and warm cinnamon spice. The finish is quite pleasant if somewhat short, leaves behind a combination of baking spices and anise.

A very tasty Anejo. Nice sweet agave on the nose followed by a nice barrel influenced of oak, vanilla, caramel and cinnamon. I also get a floral aroma with a fruitiness. On the palate, nice and sweet, almost like a dessert with butter on top. Barrel flavors are there with a little oak, vanilla and caramel. I get the whiskey flavor from the barrel but at just the right touch. This is a natural process tequila that could slam the big boys with its natural sweetness vs that artificial sweetener. Mouthfeel is great with a medium viscosity and a nice clean finish. This is a definite recommendation.

Nose: vanilla/ sweet cooked agave / caramel/ butter / banana/ pineapple/ lime / hint of other citrus / nutmeg / chocolate/ molasses/ cream soda Taste : sweet cooked agave / vanilla/ cinnamon/ oak / pear / apple / peach / hint of citrus / mint / anise / spearmint/ black tea / all spice / hint of honey / chocolate/ molasses / cream soda Finish: a very clean and lightly vicious mouthfeel that is very sweet, smooth, and very good / lingering vanilla and light mint make for an excellent finish This anejo is very good with vanilla and sweet cooked agave staying with you the whole taste…so many other tastes and aromas , but the more I pour the more vanilla and agave carry the whole melody in concert with caramel and chocolate notes.

Nose: Lightly charred, greenish oak aromas. Kind of an oak sawdust impression. A whiff of round, creamy vanilla and a suggestion of cider. Baking spices meld with passion fruit and green apple. Flavors: Buttery. A rich merger of flavors: vanilla, leather, maple and butterscotch. Pepper heat builds on the backend, with a bit of anise . Respectful barreling, highlighting the plentiful fruit and agave. Finish fades slowly and gently. #1414 and Sergio Cruz are another up and comer to watch.

Bought this from Siptequila.com. Absolutely beautiful. NOM 1414 is definitely one to watch. So much going on with this Anejo and I love it all.

Well this is a pleasant surprise. Picks up quite a bit of oak from aging, in a good way. Very smooth.

Beautiful dark Amber color. Vanilla , dark fruit and citrus on the nose and same for the flavor along with some agave and oak and perhaps a bit of coffee. Not too vicious , but not too thin either. Nice long warm oaky finish .

The aroma is filled with fruit - apple, pineapple, pear - with butterscotch and oak alongside. Again, a very mild opening with a nice butterscotch sweetness. The flavor evolves to show some fruit and mild spice. On the finish, the sweet spice moves toward an almond-like flavor. This is a great aged tequila that could be sipped all night. However, it is a bit sweet for my taste. 8/2/2015

-tasted blind- Intriguing nose of fruit, wood and alcohol. Bittersweet oaky butterscotch palate entry, with a hint of acidic citrus. Nice. Leaves a tart, mildly acidic linger in the mouth. Caramel/butterscotch wood finish - long but ends on a bitter note.

If you are a fan of aged tequilas, this is one you should try. A toasty oak aroma mingles with agave and cinnamon. In the mouth, an oily coating lingers nicely, and when it fades you will want to go back for more so that it continues. This añejo pays tribute to its original agave roots and should be given high-fives for doing so. Well done.

Nose: Cinnamon, Oak, Cherry, Almond, Vanilla, Raisin, Agave Mouthfeel: light-bodied Palate: Carmel, Citrus, Clove, Nutmeg Finish: Vanilla, Cinnamon, Clove, Oak I received this sample from a friend who recommended it. I'm picking up a lot of baking spices, nutty, and sweet aromas. I'm drinking this in the fall, seeing leaves on the ground and seeing smoke coming out of chimneys on a chilly day and to be honest, it feels that that's how this gem is intended to be enjoyed.

Aroma- Spicy baked apple with all spice and cloves, not much for agave, sharp aromas though Flavor- Mimics the aroma which is good, but I wish there was more agave in there. Finish- Most of the aroma and flavor dissipate and you are left with a short bitey finish with quite a bit of anise.

Great expression of the Gran Dovejo tequila. To the nose very oaky from the 2 year aging in the bourbon barrels. Very affordable price for an aged tequila ($70). Aroma: oak, vanilla, and cinnamon Taste: oak, vanilla, butterscotch, and almond

Fruity aromas like apple, pineapple, and pears are present, along with butterscotch and oak. Once more, a delicate opening with a pleasant butterscotch sweetness. As the flavor develops, fruit and a light spice are revealed. The sweet spice develops an almond-like flavor at the conclusion. It would be possible to drink this excellent aged tequila all night long.

My final taste of the Gran Dovejo line. Both Don Pilar and Gran Dovejo are made by Maestro Tequilero Leopoldo Solis Tinoco. In my opinion, the guy is like a Mozart of tequila.

Finding Some Comforting Clues in Gran Dovejo Tequila

Gran Dovejo is made in the highlands of Jalisco using many of our favorite techniques: the use of very ripe single-estate agave, cooked in clay ovens, distilled in copper pots, and created in small batches. (In other words even more “clues.”)
