Lot B-H
Grassy aroma. Some agave on the nose. medium burn. Nothing to write home about but not a bad Blanco.
Preiss Imports BM 16160. Sour apple candies and pears. Sweet and soft nose. Light touch of anise, and subtle kick of white pepper. This is a lover, not a fighter. But nice complexity through the lingering finish.
A bit of a surprise find. Didn’t know much about this tequila and gave it a shot. Decent nose. Sweet, peppery and agave forward. Flavor was cooked agave, pepper, citrus and vegetal.
Found a bottle at great price. Aroma: herbal, sea salt, dill weed, grass, cooked agave, peppercorn, olive, white pepper, citrus. Palate; caramel, tropical fruit, aloe, and cooked agave with taste of little use of pepper and dried chilles. Finish is very ripe and full of agave and minerals. Medium body and long lasting agave caramel and white pepper. Short legs on glass and semi oily in mouth.
I was slightly disappointed by this. Alcohol on the nose followed by movie theater popcorn. Watery and shallow on the palate. A bit bland. It had a strong (but very short) metallic, bitter finish. It was smooth so it would be a great gateway tequila. I have been spoiled by some amazing high-proof blancos so this is probably why i rated it a bit low. I like in-your-face blancos and this was a bit submissive. But still a very good tequila.
No balance to be found, weak on the nose and a weak agave build up followed up by an oddly chemical finish. I won’t revisit this.
Lot 1041. While it’s a huge improvement over the Preiss Imports version, it’s too sweet, unnaturally sweet. Will stick to my regular tequilas.
This rating is for the 2017 Tamaulipas agave lot L-1038 blanco. Nice aroma, hot peppery and lots of fresh cooked agave towards the end.
Something strange about the flavor that I can’t place, decent finish though.
Initial nose had an off note (rubber?) and alcohol, but transitioned to black pepper, baking spices and mineral notes. Palate weighs in with heavy pepper, a suggestion of sweet agave, but finishes with overbearing bitterness.
Peppercorn, grass, green agave
This was awful. Smelt like rubber gloves, rubbing alcohol. Tasted of heavy clay. Extremely faint sign of agave.
A letter L bottle from 2006. This blanco from the brands better days (?) has some creamy agave in the mouth and a finish that has some lingering earth notes.
strong cinnamon notes, with spicy dry finish
Updated rating, bottle purchased in 2024. Much better than I remember, but this feels very “safe” to me. It’s clean, easy to drink, but not very expressive in aroma or flavor.
Round bottle acquired on June 2019. Aroma: green raw agave, herbaceous, hay, slightly briny, not sweet to me maybe because of the briny sensation, oily. Palate: salted raw agave, feels green, hay, thick mouthfeel but dry. Finish is medium to long, the salted green agave notes persist.
Green, pepper, citrus, earthy mint and alcohol. A bit too overpowering on alcohol presence for me. I picked this up for $30, so extra points for that.
Tear drop priess import
Very alcohol y, some faint caramel like aftertaste
Aroma / Nose: cooked agave, pepper, lime, grass, oak, alcohol. Flavor: smooth agave opening, followed by pepper, lime, grass, with a smooth alcohol. Finish: smooth non-burning agave/citrus aftertaste that stays with you. Opinion: Beautiful legs, smooth non burning tequila/alcohol after taste. I drink this as a warmup before a nice añejo or extra añejo. Worth trying it if you can find it.
Lots of citrus and floral on the nose. Same on start. Pepper on the back end. Great smooth Blanco. Super tasty.
New bottle design and tastes completely different.
Chinaco blanco tequila gives off very delicate scents of dill, sage, and olive brine. In tasting it has a fine creaminess, and crisp sensation. Goes down clean. Bottle design is simple yet intriguing.

this is an old teardrop bottle that we've had for several years (2015ish?) Blanco BP 522, no L1009 nose - white pepper alcohol agave fruit and a funky smell (soap?) taste = more agave/sweet taste than nose, but a weird funky aftertaste. note: this bottle is old and has been open a long time with only a little left in the bottle. so I'm not sure if the funk is due to oxygenation or if it's always been there. but I gotta rate based on what I'm getting in the tasting notes.
