Tezon repo NOM 1111 Sample from Mark Czerwonka I'm not sure what to make of this one! At first, the nose was pleasant like OG tequila, with some green apple, some sour notes, like partly fermented fruit, and mild notes of cinnamon. As it sat and opened, I got caramel and vanilla notes. The green apple is still there. Palate was completely different than the nose. I'm not sure what I was tasting. Some citrus and sour notes, maybe the green apple again, with a hint of an herb = coriander?! This sample was from the old NOM so its possible something may have started to go awry with this because I was getting some really good stuff along with some unexpected notes/flavors, making this a bit of a challenge to rate.

Mexican bottling 38% ABV Spicy agave nose. Little oak presence. Pepper, jalapeño and honey like mouth feel. Semi oily. Pepper heat and sweetness linger nicely, with a hint of almonds.

Have had several bottles of this over the time since this released but never tasted and rated. A bit of alcohol on the nose along with spice elements from the barrel become exactly the same thing in the mouth with a nice medium length finish that fades to slight bitterness. This is a very nice stone ground agave product that is no longer available in the US.

Wow, the first thing I noticed about the Olmeca Tezon Reposado was the aroma. It's a lovely mix of vanilla and milk chocolate-covered raisins, with a subtle hint of bay leaf and caramel. It's really inviting. Taking a sip, the fresh agave really comes through, followed by a surprising burst of green apple skin. Then, it mellows into a toffee apple sweetness, with creamy vanilla and butterscotch notes. There's a gentle smoky pepper spice, not overpowering at all, mingling beautifully with coffee and chocolate. It's a complex and delicious experience. The finish is what really impressed me. It lingers, long and fruity – I definitely get pear – with a touch of sweetness and that smoky note returning. What's interesting is how clean and characterful this reposado is. Compared to the blanco version, it's noticeably less peppery and spicy, which makes it incredibly smooth and enjoyable. I'm definitely a fan.
