REPO this is an old teardrop bottle that we've had for several years (2015ish?) RQ 11192, L2011= subtle nose that opens, agave, a little oak a little alcohol, fruit nuts and the funk again (soap, Bandaids?), some oak, barrel spices. Taste is white pepper butterscotch oak, barrel spices a little bitter on finish and that funky taste lingers

2006 lot "K" Teardrop bottle. These older Chinacos are always a treat. Agave punch, with rich notes of butterscotch, melon, citrus, cinnamon, spices. Always a pleasant revisit.

Fielding & Jones tear drop, RK 8370. Beautiful golden color. Lots of fresh agave on the nose and some floral notes, followed by hints of caramel. Good viscosity, leaving tears on the Riedel. Butterscotch and light oak notes, cleanly transitions to agave before finishing with light pepper kick. Easy heat, but a medium to long finish with complexity that hangs onto the top of your mouth. Really enjoyable old school bottle.

Taste this neat at Señor Tequila bar. Great flavor include oak, vanilla and agave with taste of caramel and little use of pepper. Finish is very oily and full of agave and vanilla with hints of oak. $10/

Im just not digging this, not enough oak the change the profile and the Blanco wasn’t awesome to begin with.

F&J Import tear drop bottle. RK5537. Cooked agave, oak, spice, bell pepper, earth, fruit, caramel, touch of vanilla. A bit hot on the finish but nothing outrageous. Decent bottle for sure.

Butterscotch, a little heat, a touch amargo. I expected more... But then again, the last time I tasted the repo it had an off petroleum taste. So I will give it another try.

Older bottle of reposado, says a Preiss Import but from Ramona CA rather than the current San Diego CA. This reposado adds caramel and oak to the blanco profile along with a lingering tip of the tongue numbing finish. Denton imports A bottle from 1996. Awesome. 30/06/2018

Updating my rating with a new bottle purchased in 2024. Pretty solid repo with a light touch of wood. Nice long term sipper.

NOM 1127 | Im tasting a different shape bottle. I’m tasting the repo from nom 1127 and there’s nothing wrong with this soft delicate earthy light repo. Some vanilla on the nose but not the palate. It’s classic on the light side I liked the earthy notes up front then the light oaky notes agave throughout.

Previous round bottle acquired on June 2019. Color: very light yellow. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, minty, aromatic herbs, slightly metallic notes that disappears after 20 minutes. Palate: light sweet cooked agave, stone fruit sweetness, aromatic herbs, hay. Finish is medium to long, sweet cooked agave and hay notes persist.

Used to be a great value, but I smell earthiness, almost dirt, not bad but not good either. Taste was ok, finish not appealing. Not clean to me.

Very clear for a reposado. Sweet ivory smell with a little heat. Heat up front with an annoying vanilla flavor in back into finish. Way to much shitty additives.

Chinaco for Dinner

Last week I attended a dinner at Tres Agaves in San Francisco with Gabriel and Guillermo Gonzalez of Chinaco Tequila. Tres Agaves is hosting monthly distillers' dinners with a different tequila brand each time.
