Nice pearls in the glass, this has a roast agave nose, some earth and in the mouth is quite viscous. Great natural sweetness along with little ethanol lead to a very short finish.

Will need to visit this again. I rated this much lower in the big TMM blind. Revisited 11/23/24 Nose is nice with agave and butter. Earthy. Mint, jalapeño. On the palate, I get agave, black pepper, lavender, minerals and citrus. Light mouthfeel with an alcohol burn for the finish. This is a good but not great tequila.

$80 in San Francisco Aroma: 21+1 Dense and punchy. Herbal and vegetal with a background white creamy note with a touch of lavender. Not a lot of agave coming through. Palate: 24+2 Once the alcohol settles in, the sweetness and depth emerges. Sweet. Heavy on herbal character with a floral backdrop. I really enjoy the unexpected floral element. Caramelized cooked agave develops over time. A soapy quality in the mid palate to the finish which I don’t love. Finish: 21+1 Value: 6 $80 isn’t the best value but far from the worst. This is a quality tequila but not quite my profile. The soapy quality is hard for me to look past. Worth a buy for someone who enjoys high proof blancos with herbal and floral character. Update: Originally 82 overall Currently 86 overall. See updates in the scores above

NOM 1646 | Nose: lactic/ earth / mineral/ astringent/ lime / bell pepper / Taste: sweet agave cooked / anise / peppermint/ cinnamon/ mineral/ earth / pear / apple / orange peel / bell pepper / vanilla Finish: watery wet mouthfeel/ the palate is bombarded with spicy peppermint and cinnamon in a back and forth battle with sweet agave and anise to win control of your palate. Some balance right at the last swallow. Have you ever wondered what cinnamon and peppermint would taste like if it was on fire in your mouth and you only had sweet cooked agave to extinguish the flames? It’s powerful flavor….and still has a bit of harmony… but it’s mostly unhinged flavor trying to put your teeth out. It’s a wild ride but very worth it!!!!

NOM 1646 | Very earthy tequila. Raw and cooked agave. Minerality and jalapeno. Artichoke. The taste follows suit. Raw and cooked agave with earthiness and minerality. I get black pepper and green peppers. Slight alcohol taste but this is 55%ABV. They do a great job at full throttle with this one. If you like an earthy tequila and are a fuerte fanatic, this one is for you.

NOM 1646 NOSE - agave, lime, minerals, pear, cinnamon, malolactic, green pepper TASTE - agave, malolactic, floral, lime zest, minerals, pepper, green bell pepper, mint FINISH - starts nice with pepper, mint, and a nice warmth. However, I get a chemical aftertaste at the very end that lingers and hangs around for a bit.

NOM 1646 | Lot: CAB55002, Parcela El Crucero II, tasted on 8-26-24. The front side of the rear label which is visible through the front side of the bottle depicts a man tasting tequila in black and white. Aroma: raw agave, quite herbal & mineral, slightly minty, hint of chili spiciness, light acidity, hint of citrus, artichoke, hint of sourness. Hint of metallic note, minerality. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, ethanol sensation is medium to high, artichoke is quite intense, hint of metallic harsh note is present on the palate too. Finish is medium to long, light raw agave, minerality, hint of chili and black pepper spiciness, herbaceous with light metallic note persists.
