This tequila is amazing! I wish I bought more! Cooked in a stone brick oven, tahona (felipestein) crushed, fermented in wood tanks with champagne yeast, aged in cognac and white wine barrels. Top nose banana, tropical fruit, bubble gum. nose is excellent, cinnamon, some anise, cognac comes out. Perfectly balanced. Fantastic! Keeps u wanting more!!!
Too much going on. Decent but not the best of 1579 by far
Loses a point for high price. Different profile from the G4 range and should be some other brand, but otherwise a nice product. I would appreciate a 100% rainwater blanco to see how that would compare to other blancos at NOM 1579.
Very nice! Richer Añejo than most G4. Had a glass at Thanksgiving and will try to return back and provide better notes, but I give it a big thumbs-up.
Something completely different from G4. Less agave forward, more barrel influence. Almond, Apricot, Caramel and sweet vanilla notes. Great nose … Great finish. Nice mouth feel. Really enjoyed this 6 Barrel expression.
4 Cognac barrels and two Chardonnay barrels. Champagne yeast.
That 6 barrel coming from G4 is fantastic. I got to taste it when we we were there in February (I think). Felipe asked me to sample and comment. The cognac, and agave make a very nice appearance with hints of Chardonnay in the background. The barrel and rain water just complemented what was all ready there. He really appreciated my analysis, but said he didn’t know what he was going to do with the rest. I suggested he bottle it and get it to market. I came home with a gift bottle. For being a Blanco guy this Añejo is awesome.
May be one of the best tequilas I’ve ever had! Would rate it higher if it was more widely available. Grab a bottle if you find it!
Excellent flavor profile.
This is a top aged expression for me. The barrel components add such a special flavor.
Nose: super fruity, grapes, apples, cherry. Oak in the back Mouthfeel: Thin Taste: mild oak, fruity still getting the grape and cherry taste Finish: super mild and easy sipper
This is a complex Anejo. Agave, fruit (apricots, apple) oak, caramel and butterscotch. More and more detected as it opens up. Pallete- Cooked agave, oak and pepper. Finish is were it really shines, outstanding cooked agave and pepper lingering for a long period. Few points lost on price point on this.
The common theme on this one, I wish I had more. The use of only rainwater on this one sets it apart. I would say this is the absolute best anejo, to ever come from 1579. The Flavors are just so perfectly balanced another masterpiece from Felipe!
Holy wow! No words, in my top 3 Añejos all time.
The mouth feel is fairly light with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Score reflects my disdain for champagne along with cost. There's a lot going on with the taste, beautiful flavors that are lightly sweetened. Decided to purchase more for future endeavors.
Tasted side by side with normal Añejo Nose: Fruit, some funk, baked apple, maple Palate: Spice, agave, oak, strawberry Finish: Little pepper, light mouthfeel, very slight touch of heat
Lote: L60008AE, bottled on 28/08/23, started tasting it on 10-25-23 and finished on 10-26-23. Color: yellow. Aroma: sweet cooked agave! Fruit acidity, light vanilla, slightly minty, slightly herbaceous, quite intense stone fruit sweetness, earthy, alcohol sensation is low, almost can’t smell the wood note maybe because of the pronounced sweetness, 20 minutes later in the glass I can smell light wood note that doesn’t bother, baked red apples with a touch of cinnamon, fresh & crisp for an añejo. Becomes less herbaceous as time passes & wood note becomes more pronounced. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, light black pepper note and the wood note is more pronounced on the palate. Good sweet sour and acidic balance. Finish is medium to long, light sweet cooked agave with baked red apples with a touch of cinnamon, minty freshness & light stone fruit sweetness persist. Note to self: drink this tequila sooner than later after being served. 600th rating.
The nose offers a delightful blend of butter, distinct agave presence, subtle hints of cinnamon, a touch of cheese, and an undertone of caramel sweetness. On the palate, the tequila is characterized by its smooth, buttery texture, creating a rich and viscous mouthfeel. There are discernible nutty elements, accompanied by the essence of raisins and an abundance of cooked agave flavor.

Appearance: The G4 Añejo (6 Barrels Edition) presents a rich amber hue, hinting at the depth of flavors to come. Aroma: Upon nosing, delightful fruity notes dance through the senses, with distinct hints of apricot, plum, and other pitted fruits. Subtle undertones of pear and apple intertwine with the essence of cooked agave, creating a harmonious bouquet. The oakiness adds a layer of complexity, balancing the fruitiness with finesse. Taste: The palate is welcomed with the warmth of cooked agave, complemented by some nuances of black pepper. Fruity and floral elements burst as well, with pronounced flavors of apricot and caramelized Bosch pear leading the way. A delightful hint of pineapple adds a tropical twist, while notes of butterscotch and baking spices evoke a sense of indulgence. The minerality rounds out the experience, leaving a lingering, satisfying finish. Overall, G4 Añejo (6 Barrels Edition) is a masterful expression of craftsmanship, marrying tradition with innovation to create a tequila that delights the senses with every sip.
