Very nice repo. Nose- cooked agave, fruit, cinnamon, oak , minerality Taste- cooked agave, minerality, cinnamon, anise, good, caramel, little vanilla bit of oak. Very nice.
Sept 2, 2023 1 oz sample Nose brown sugar vanilla barrel notes, whisky. I really like the nose a lot! Palate oak but not an oak bomb, some agave barrel spices. I enjoy the palate Finish is short
Really nice reposado. It’s delicious. Packed with cooked agave sweetness, butterscotch, and cinnamon. A little bit one-dimensional, but that dimension is very well-done.
Sweet nose on this one. Nice barrel with some agave. Easy palate and finish on this one. I enjoyed it.
Tasted blind
Tasted at Agave Brothers Event
I had to take my time with this one. My first impression was not good with a huge whiff of ethanol. After a few minutes, I started getting a creamy butterscotch in addition to the agave. Strangely, it reminded me of the Haitian Rhum Barbancourt 15. Turns out that this tequila is aged in a similar style of barrel, and I'm guessing that's what brings the similar aromas. Of course, the rhum has a more intense aroma from the much longer contact with the wood. The taste provides a similar experience to the nose with the additional flavor of orange peel. It's quite nice. For someone who much prefers blancos to reposados, I am very pleased with this tequila. It's an excellent choice! Edit: I made a Oaxacan Old Fashioned, and the butterscotch flavor was even more pronounced.
The nose is very creamy, butterscotch, with vanilla undertone, clean agave Taste has nice mineral tone, some mint, nice hot agave, with some peppercorn, longer finish. Barrel taste is nice. Very nice flavoring combination
Great price point for a wonderful repo produced 1414…great mission, too. Support these guys.
Citrus and caramel notes followed with agave forward bite
Alma Del Jaguar Reposado ($55 USD) Overall: Solid reposado at a good price. Love the nose. Taste and finish are enjoyable, but take a slight step back from the nose. Nose: Love it. Cooked agave, toasted cane sugar sweetness, light carmel, and cinnamon with a classic toasted french barrel oak vanilla. The nose is elevated with apricot-melon or pineapple fruit notes. I get trace hints of orange blossom floralness and mint. Taste: A medium mouthfeel with a good balance of minerals, black pepper spice. Traditional reposado notes like baking spices, whiskey, caramel, and honey. I get a slight bitter Jalapeño note on the backend. Finish: The Jalapeño spice and slightly dry cinnamon notes play off each other for a solid finish.
sweet and peppery on the nose. silky, sweet, refreshing with a crisp and peppery finish.
The reposado gave me hints of Añejo, even Extra Añejo, but loved it.
Strong barrel notes. Wished for more agave flavor. They dedicate to a great cause, much like Mijenta.
Another 1414 easy sipper. On the sweeter side from the french oak. Oak, vanilla, agave and cinammon. Tasty.
On palate- agave a little muddled, overpowered by barrel influence, hints of banana, oak, honey, caramel, floral notes, still briney like the blanco but not as dry, thicker mouthfeel, cinnamon and jalapeno still present and lingers.
Nice old school cooked Agave with a hint of Smokeyness. Aroma of light barrel sweetness, not overpowering. Taste: caña sugar: a slight sweetness ( smoked agave pina taste before crushing) vanilla, slight floral, slight smokey charred barrel notes with a well-balanced finish.
Pepper- minerals - light vanilla- lots happening in the mouth for me
Some smoke, strong alcohol flavor.
On the nose I got lots of sweet cooked agave, spices, pineapple and white grapes. The agave came through on the palate as well as caramel, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, banana, pineapple and green apple. Vegetal and savory. Creamy, full body. Nice finish. Really enjoyed this Reposado.
Very cheap rum nose and cheap manipulated taste.
Herbal nose, tad bit of caramelization, mild oak & dry finish despite water.
The balance on this one is really nice the French oak doesn’t over take the flavor of the sip.
Nose: Beautiful nose! Barrel aroma as strong is an XA. Oak, vanilla, cooked agave, and caramel. Strikes me as a very good balance between the American and French oak barrels. Palate: The palates seems to be heavily dominated by the American barrel. Definitely less of a Reposado influence and more like an Añejo type of expression The flavors that strike the palate are vanilla, pepper and whiskey. Finish: Medium to light viscosity. Quick and uneventful finish, with a very light pinch of heat about 15 seconds after completed.
