Nose: heavy bourbon notes (charred wood, caramel, flambéd sugar, vanilla) Taste: coffee - first and immediate note is a robust coffee taste. It’s like you walked into a coffee shop! Middle notes are toffee, roasted agave and wood Finishes with the note of agave and coffee. This is a very different flavor profile than most tequilas I’ve tried. I appreciate the innovation while maintaining agave, coffee, and bourbon flavors.

tried a little sample at latf industry party 2023. i was surprised i didnt get a lot of coffee notes as expected. still, it was quite pleasant. i want to revisit because there was a cigar influence in the air (we were at a cigar bar)

Tasting Review for Quintaliza Reposado Tequila by our catador @pepeagave: Aroma: Cooked agave, caramel, black pepper, oak, orange peel, chocolate, coffee, walnut, barrel spice & toasted bread. Taste: Caramelized agave, coffee (bittersweet), honey, barrel spice, oakiness in a very elegant way, along with sweet nuances of allspice and baking spices. Clove, white pepper, cocoa, leather & tobacco notes also make an appearance. Price: $75-80

Coffee on the nose with slight agave. Dark color. Chocolate on the palate. Slight bitter finish. Not bad. Very unique

This is a unique Reposado from NOM1522 - Hacienda de Oro and Master Distiller Iliana Partida. It’s certified organic and additive free. This is a double barrel Reposado that’s first aged for two months in white oak American bourbon barrels and then aged for 3 months in coffee barrels. It’s the coffee barrels that give this tequila its bronze color. - On the nose, I get several aromas that create a pleasant density. There is some faint agave and raw honey notes with a hint of dry barrel that gives it a dry hay scent. There’s also a hint of bitterness, leather, and tobacco leaves. So far the color and nose are reminiscent of an anejo. - When I first taste Quintaleza I get the cooked agave sweetness and that honey note right before the density hits. The mid-palate density is comprised of the leather and tobacco notes from the nose. Some barrel spices and bitterness follow. There's some peppery heat that presents itself right before the finish. - On the finish, I get the pepper and the bitterness. There's some faint chocolate and then the coffee note finally appears. The sweetness also bleeds into the finish. - This repo also drinks like an anejo. This is an exemplary tequila for tequila aficionados because they’ll get to experience a coffee barrel finish and it’ll be good for people newer to tequila because it’s very flavorful without being too complex. Overall I think they are onto something good and I look forward to their future batches.

Different and interesting. Light coffee notes for sure. Has toasted agave and sweetness. A little stronger barrel notes from than most reposados, due to the double barrel aging. An after dinner sipper. Well made and worthy of a purchase

The aromas and flavors are very interesting! Oak, agave, barrel spice, dark chocolate, tobacco and leather come together with a slight bitter twang to deliver a coffee-like experience that drinks and looks more like an Añejo. It’s packaged in a beautiful bold bottle too. If you like your coffee black and enjoy dark Añejos then this innovative new tequila is not one to miss. I’m a sipper, but this flavor profile would probably make for some amazing cocktails too.

Rich wood notes & essence of coffee beans. Pleasantly surprised by this Reposado, I enjoyed it far more than I was expecting. Can’t wait to experiment with it, tequila espresso martini coming up!

LOTE QTL001 D.O.P. Tasted on 1-25-24. Color: yellow to dark yellow. Aroma: hint of raw agave, caramel, light acidity, light green vegetal note, slightly herbaceous, wood note that gets more intense as time goes by, hint of maple syrup, wood fiber notes are quite active. It has a persistent but subtle minty aroma. Palate: minty, green vegetal, wood note that ends slightly astringent, caramel, raw agave, light acidity, ends slightly dry. Bourbon. Through my retronasal I smell a soapy sensation. Finish is medium to long, minty, caramel, wood note, light green vegetal & herbaceous notes persist. Hint of raw agave at the very end. Wood note is quite impregnating overall, luckily it has the minty sensation to keep it fresh and not cloying.

High pressure autoclave is not my preference for tequila. However, solid Repo with agave forward notes

There’s nothing like it! Such robust flavor for a reposado—that coupled with the seriously enticing coffee aroma makes this the perfect sipping tequila. Plus, it also makes for unique mixed drinks.

Quintaliza is a seriously sexy sipper! It’s amazing on the nose but hits even better on the palate. The smooth, subtle coffee finish gets me every time. I love that this wild idea of coffee barrel aging produced such a quality product and the juice itself is extremely versatile. While I love it neat or on a large rock, I sometimes get adventurous and have it in an espresso martini (obvious choice), or an icy, spicy marg! Bottom line, it’s damn good.

This is some good- unique - cool-“stuff” - love the hint of coffee- love that it is not overly sweet- easy sip- can see this being used in so many cool drinks too- I’m not typically a “flavored” tequila person- but the coffee barrels really makes this worth a try- assuming you’re a coffee person of course- it’s smooth, I personally love the finish -nothing like a hint of peppery coffee- aroma is also unique- hints of baking spices and distant coffee brewing- give it a “shot” - almost a 90 for me- if it was a little lower in price :) - Mole sauce also comes to mind-;)

Credit for taking a bold step away from the normal. The nose is sweet. Heavy aroma of maple and chocolates. The taste has a mild syrup beginning with a sudden backend of a beautifully balanced coffee note. It's quite exciting as the coffee note finally presents itself. For a Reposado, it's packed with flavor, the sweetness may be overpowering. It's questionable whether this is a true, addictive-free tequila given its heavy color and sweetness. Regardless, it's exciting and enjoyable, especially if the sweet notes are those you prefer... With a kick of coffee. I really appreciate the risk taking!

Not at all what I expected. I loved the aromas and the robust flavor. Although, I’m a big coffee fan it’s not the coffee taste you would expect when you see that it’s finished in coffee barrels. The finish reminds me of my favorite coffee brewing. I really enjoyed this sip. I see some amazing cocktails with this brand.

So different and insanely good. The coffee smell his quick, but airing it out allows the other aromas to rise. The taste and finish are unlike anything else I've had, and I mean that in a good way. Quite distinctive and will never be able to hide in a blind!

for me as a coffee lover is delicious. Of course it smells like agave oak and coffee, after you sip at first you don’t get the coffee but a few seconds later you feel the hit of the coffee and the finish you get the coffee flavor. My personal opinion is delicious

Nose: Nice aroma with barrel notes of oak, caramel, vanilla and coffee. Taste: Taste is good with flavors of oak, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Finish: Medium finish with lingering dark chocolate. Overall, first tasting is good but not great. It’s different and may take some getting used to. Nice aromas and flavors but the coffee barrel aging is rather different.

Dangerously delicious! This tequila almost deserves it’s own category. Great color and aroma. Has a nice bite that seems to vanish quickly into an amazing taste that leaves you wanting another sip! Honestly like nothing I’ve ever tasted…and I’ve tasted a lot lol. 100% recommend trying and can almost guarantee it will become a staple in your collection.
