tried a small sample at LATF house 9/22 anise fruit citrus agave, some funk that made it unique. fun sipper. I enjoyed it.
Tasted at MBTC 2023. The Final Event.
Nose- little Maletic funkiness, minerality, citrus anise, pepper Flavor- this is where it really shines. Cooked agave followed by little orange peel citrus mixed with a bitter dark chocolate. Very nice
Great aroma, pepper, agave, mint. lighter on the flavor and finish. Really good overall.
Light aroma and taste, except for lots of pepper in both.
Let it open up… Aroma is raw agave, pepper, herbal and vegetal (Low to medium complexity) Taste is better! Took off points for high price… dope and unique bottle for sure.
Relatively subtle aroma, but very bright and clean. More raw agave than cooked agave. Also, some minerality and grassiness. Tastes, very clean and lively, quite a bit of anise, and agave. A lemon grass character as well. Very long and juicy finish for a Blanco. Perhaps a bit more expensive than I want to pay for a Plata like this. However, a very solid tequila overall.
Creamy, mineral, mint, citrus, anise, pepper. High price, glad someone shared a glass with me!
Nose: citrus, star anise, tropical notes, and cooked agave Flavor: citrus, tropical fruit, earthy, cooked agave, sweetness from cooked agave, and has an oily mouth feel and is well balanced Finish: medium finish that has a lot of pepper
Really interesting Blanco. Very unique nose. Balanced flavors of citrus, anise, white pepper and cooked agave. Great package, price point a little high at $85 a bottle just coming out of the gate.
The nose is very fragrant. I get lime zest, bright fruit notes and some anise / mint. Its a has a high viscosity. I taste buttery cooked agave, minerals, some vegetal notes, and spearamint before the slight peppery finish. This is a nice tequila! Its well made and tastes great.
Nice aromas of tropical fruit, mint/anise and cooked agave with an oily mouthfeel and peppery finish. Naturally sweet and balanced.
Bottle: L280422KO 131022 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked and raw agave, fruity, green apple, pear, rainier cherry, citrus, pineapple, lemon, minerality, wet cement, sweet potato, brine/salinity, lactic, butter, mustiness, anise, black pepper, and alcohol…I’m digging the funkiness Palate: Cooked and raw agave, fruity, green apple, mint, brine/salinity, minerality, wet cement, anise, black and white pepper, vegetal, bell pepper, citrus, lemon, pineapple, grapefruit, lactic, black tea, and alcohol…more vegetal than the nose, and still funky Finish: Cooked agave, green apple, pineapple, and bell pepper…medium viscosity, fruity, short and to the point Overall: It’s a really nice bottle, but the price brought the score down some.
The quality of my nose is subpar due to cigarette usage so pardon my take on this. Smell: > Coconut rum with with heavy mint Taste: > Earthy mellow with a great burning sensation to go with the aftertaste
The first impression is the bottle is a piece of functional art. After opening the bottle we are hit with some great aromas of vegetation a real clean impression right on the onset. I love a Tahona crushed tequila. On the pallet is a wonderful sipping tequila that left me wanting more. There are subtle differences from other Blancos in this range. I get a hint of mint, anise and fruit with some white pepper on the finish.
Summary: Slick novelty bottle, but pushes the price too high. Otherwise a solid blanco that is elegantly simple. Nose: Plesant malo-lactic funk with raw agave, anise, mint, white pepper and subtle tropical fruits. Taste: Crisp and creamy with a raw agave bite. Notes of white pepper and some minerality. Finish: Elegantly simple. Wonderfully long heat.
Aroma: agave, citrus, floral, fruity, pepper and vanilla Taste: agave, pepper, passion fruit Finish is nice and smooth and little peppery at the end.
Summary: Slick novelty bottle appears to push the price too high for this otherwise solid blanco. An elegantly simple, but wonderful blanco. Nose: Plesant malo-lactic funk with raw agave, anise, mint, white pepper and subtle tropic fruits. Taste: Crisp and creamy with a raw agave bite. Notes of white pepper, and some minerality. Finish: Elegantly simple, wonderfully long heat.
aroma is good, taste is where it excels. hints of citrus
This is a unique style of blanco tequila, this expression boasts an abundance of sweet agave notes that dominate the palate. Amidst these flavors, there are discernible hints of anise, citrus, and mint, offering a refreshing zest. What sets this blanco apart is the subtle yet distinctive nuance of leather, something I normally don’t get with blanco tequilas. I’ve been wanting to try it and I’m happy I was able to sample it.
Aroma / Nose: agave, citrus, earthy, alcohol, grass. Flavor: smooth agave opening, followed by anise/citrus, earthy grass. Finish: smooth non-burning aftertaste that stays with you. Opinion: Bottle 878 - Wow! Love the slightly (almost imperceptible) yellowish/greenish color. Yes is a joven but the legs and the smell of agave and the citrus sweet aftertaste mmm... one of the best blancos/joven I have tasted, I think it is worth the price specially IF you can find it since only 1,000 bottles were produced.
Really interesting notes of mint, anis and agave! A little artichoke on the finish. Very unique product with great flavor
if it weren't for Grover and Scarlet rating this 90+ I'd assume people were either being paid for these reviews or offered free bottles to review it. It's a decent blanco expression from a relatively unknown NOM being licensed out for style-point bottling by a distillery that normally does vodka and whiskey. Crisp, clean agave with some nice mint notes and the well water adds a minerality that's appreciated, but this is absolutely nothing to write home about. You're better off saving the 85ish I'm finding it for and just buying G4, Ocho or Fortaleza blanco. Every one of these would blow the doors off this drink in every single comparable category, and I'd put good money on that.
I can't agree with the 91+ scores on here, the tequila is good nothing special and super overpriced, on the nose you get fresh citrus, sweet agave and anise, on the palate the entry is smooth then onto some heat with a lot of anise and pepper. if this was 40 I would buy again at 85 I would buy 2 bottles of any ocho blanco which is far better.

Fruity aroma with agave (cooked and raw), citrus, and anise. Enjoyable flavor profile that echoed the aromas.
