Had all three, as someone stated, very similar in profile/flavors with sameness probably due to process and differences due to agaves used in infusion. Aromas of strong cooked agave, cinnamon, vanilla, spices and faint caramel. Flavor of cooked agave, burnt sugar, some jalapeño/oily residue with certain sweetness. A nice change of pace and good conversation piece for sure. A must for any collection.

Tequila Curado Espadin This is an infused 100% Blue Weber Agave Blanco. They take 1000 liters of 100 proof Blanco and then place 21 kgs of cooked Espadin from Abel Galán Martínez in Oaxaca into cotton bags that are then seeped for 5 days. It’s then filtered to remove particles and proofed to 40% abv - 80 proof. The color comes from the infusion. This tequila isn’t aged nor rested in oak. Originally this was going to be an extension to the Tequila Ocho line but it’s an independent brand with 2 other infusions. On the nose I immediately know it’s a skillfully made Blanco Tequila. The cooked buttery agave is up front but then some other interesting notes appear. There’s a green vegetal note. It’s fresh cut jalapeños, celery, minerals and some light brine. I taste the buttery agave first and foremost. There’s green pepper and vegetal notes along with a black pepper and alcohol presence. There’s a sweetness that appears just before the finish. The finish has lingering notes of peppercorn and a bright green vegetal alcohol tingleness that’s reminiscent of a proofed down Espadin Mezcal.

Lot BC-ES-002 02/10/2019 Nose: Bright nose. Oranges, citrus peel, and warm spices. An agave presence with great depth and clarity. Honey, butter brickle and tangy kumquat. A touch of vanilla and light aromas of wood. Flavor: Cracked black pepper that packs some heat, spiciness, vanilla, and salinity. Fruity pineapple and citrus, rich caramelized agave, and trace smokiness. There is subtle bitterness on the back palate, but is balanced out by the sweeter notes. Finish: A slight medicinal note in the finish. These Curados are interesting infused tequilas!

12/9/23 Aroma: actually pretty weak especially against the azul and cupreata. Flavor: that’s what I’m talking about, surprising flavor after less than awesome aroma. Decidedly different than the other two Curados. Strong mint and pepper thick and wet. Finish: some alcohol and more heat than other two; still minty all the way through the long finish and lot of tingling.

LOT BC-ES-001. Bottled on 17/10/2018. Produced in La Alteña. Color: light yellow. Aroma: raw agave, very green, alcohol sensation is medium, herbal, earth, 30 minutes in the glass a pungent sweet cooked agave aroma emerges. Palate: smoke, sweet cooked agave, earthy, mineral. Finish is medium to long, smoked earthy agave sweetness persists. Ends slightly too sweet with a wine-y sensation.

Curado (Espadin) Lot BC-ES-003 07/07/2020 $53 USD (Ferment & Still) Overall: Sensational and easy to sip.  The Espadin retains the wonderful qualities of Tequila Ocho's blanco line and adds a fruit and citrus forward presence. This is a bargain. Nose: Bright, sweet cooked agave and highlights of grapefruit citrus and apricot-pineapple fruit.  Mild limestone minerality, mint, and honey sweetness rise forward with traces of baking spices, bell pepper, and smoke. Wonderful on the nose!  Wow, when this opens up it really gets complex Taste: Delicious. Starts off with a buttery mouth feel with a mix of added saltiness.  The initial mild sweetness and take a turn toward dry and bitter on the backend.  The initial entry with sweet cooked agave, pepper, and citrus (pineapple, orange peel and lime zest).   The spiciness is really enjoyable. Finish: Medium length with a lingering trace of citrus, cracked pepper and a little smokiness.
