Copper colored. Nose: First whiff brought a lot of oak and bourbon notes, striking fear that these aromas were going to be overbearing for me. But they quickly mellowed, bringing waves of barrel spice, fruity and floral scents, vanilla, butterscotch and counterpoint earthiness. Flavor: Immediate pepper in your face. But it backs off, allowing buttery caramel, almond and butterscotch room to strut their stuff. Quite a lot of fruitiness present, but I’m having difficulty identifying individual fruits in that makeup - maybe dark cherry? Punchy cardamom, cloves and cinnamon. Finish: A slightly nagging bitter and hot taste in the finish.
