Bright fruity nose with agave and floral notes - and not surprisingly, hints of the bourbon barrel. Assertive. Caramel, white pepper and some agave peaking through upon tasting. Very fresh!

Its an aroma very different in the category, full of spices, reminds the nose of very strong flavors like black tea, clave, and complex herbs. Your nose is not lying nor hiding anything. After the first taste everything is dryness, nothing of Agave flavors, it’s one spirit of its own... Agave, lime, fresh, sweetness was killed with the wood in the bourbon barrels. More similar to a añejo than a reposado, probably very strong toast in the barrels.

My current go to nightcap. Medium finish with flavors of cooked agave, oak and whiskey.

I was lucky enough to stumble on this in a tequila shop in Puerto Vallarta. I'm usually a Blanco guy, but I have to admit the aging bourbon barrels added a nice flavor and aroma to this reposado.... a touch of wood and caramel without being overbearing. Since Espolon is one of my "go to" tequilas here at home, it was interesting to try some expressions I hadn't seen anywhere else. I also tried the Chardonnay barrel aged repo, and it was good but didn't quite have the depth of this one. I would keep this on my bar regularly if I could get it here. If you can find it, it's worth a try!
