Lovely sipping tequila. Hints of leather and tobacco, not overly oaked.

Aroma: It's very light and mellow to start with subtle hints of oak, cherry and is also slightly floral. But, as it opens up it gets much stronger and has a heavy butterscotch aroma with a slight coffee undertone. Flavor: Again, like the initial aroma it is very light. I get a slight hint of oak but the butterscotch definitely stands out as the most prominent flavor. It's very interesting. Usually XA's are a little too barrel heavy for my taste but this is so light and not overpowering at all.

Practically no oak in the aroma and clear notes of cherry, almond and flowers followed by mild butterscotch. The butterscotch and oak become more pronounced with some time in the glass. Nice opening spice flavor tamed by sweet butterscotch. Nice, long finish that lingers in the mouth. Much fuller and richer than the Crotalo. More of a "traditional"XA. UPDATED on 7/6 in side by side tasting with Crotalo Gran Reserva, Tears of Llorona and re-tasting of Diablito.

One of my favorite Extra Añejos. Smooth palate with a peppery finish. Beautiful presentation, with a beautiful bottle. Got this as a birthday gift and would definitely buy it on my own.

One of my favorite tequilas. Comes in a nice box, but if they could knock off $10-15 and not put it in a box it would be even better.

Nice taste and finish but now that I have had others I can see it's not what I thought the fist time.

Recieved this a gift over the holidays, after tasting many times prior to my review I have determined that this an excellent EA. The flavor of agave has not been lost in the aging process. The barrel comes though almost immediately, excellent agave, spice, chocolate and caramel flavors. On the finish is light pepper burn that does not linger. Price point is a bit high, but overall I really enjoy this Extra Anejo.

This extra añejo is so complex and layered with flavor. The 43 months of aging in oak barrels plus an additional month in petite barrels. I love this tequila more each time I taste it. Avion Reserva 44 is incredibly smooth with a finely balanced finish. A must try! It is so great that you can sell your EMPTY bottle in the box on eBay for $20 - $30.

44 is one of my favorites. The aroma is excellent, I could smell the glass all night. The taste is smooth and sweet with hints of caramel, toffee and vanilla. It is one of my staples and is always on hand. I’ve tasted it next to several more expensive bottles and it is always better.

I bought this on sale for $89 from Ludwig's.. nose was full of Vanilla, Caramel and Oak. on the taste it was hot and kind of harsh but had a nice creamy mouthfeel..then it was all vanilla, caramel and an abundance of oaky bitterness. I didn't feel it was balanced at all and there was very little if any cooked agave. If you like lots of barrel influence to cover up a bad Blanco then this might be a good choice for you. For me.. not so much. May use the rest of the bottle for Palomas..

I enjoyed the complexity on the nose of this one, oak, vanilla, cooked agave and some spice. It was smooth and a bomb of vanilla with a light viscousity and short finish that had me thinking of vanilla vodka— pleasant but lacking some in the depth of cooked agave I want in an EA at this price point

It’s a great well aged tequila. It’s aged for 43 months in selected oak barrels and finished in selected port barrels while being rotated everyday for the last month. Giving it the the name Avión Reserva 44.
