Cognac cask 2014 rested 11 mos in medium-char oak casks for 11 mos, then transferred to french oak casks from cognac for 3 more months (my question = why is this not considered anejo? Casks larger than 600 liters?) Nose dry oak, barrel spices, cinnamon, I pick up the agave profile more in this expression than the other two, Palate is sweet, the agave is still there with some fruit and honey, butterscotch Finish dry and warm

Not sure what the difference is here between this and the 2013 reserve Reposado, please see that listing for my tasting notes.

Tastes like herradura reposado from cognac barrels ... Oh wait, that's exactly what it is!...sometimes, I'm in a herradura mood and sometimes I'm not... This is slightly different and good if in the mood!

(Cognac cask finish) Color is noticeably lighter than the 2012 Port cask version. However, the aroma is much fuller and stronger than the Port cask. Oak is prevalent with under-notes of vanilla and pineapple. Fairly strong aroma of alcohol as well. Despite all of that, the initial flavor is very sweet and the minty spice builds over quite a long time. The finish is short and the spiciness that took so long to build dissipates quickly.

Another bottle purchased years ago that I have never rated until tonight; beautiful, golden tan color in the glass; on the nose, light tones of agave mixed with caramel and honey; on the tongue, light agave, possibly muted by the aging in cognac casks; across the back of the palette, slight burn, light agave mixed with butterscotch; at the price point of approximately $70.00, USD, I probably won’t purchase again; overall, a good, “safe” tequila for a entry level enthusiast;

This is an extremely smooth tequila that paired well with a nice cigar. Enjoyed the bottle too fast.
