NOM 1079 | Sampled at Monterey Tequila Fest. This was an oldie bottle from 1079–lovely! Which they still made it this way.

NOM 1580 | This profile is good and has a subtle framework Organoleptic structure: Spices, barrel spice, oak, vanilla, agave is very minimal, licorice & mustiness was detected.

NOM 1079 | Nice light straw color. Agave, caramel apples and Werther’s Originals. It’s a sweet nose. Buttery, cooked agave, tannins and pepper. Easy finish and moderately complex. Could drink it all day. NOM 1079 Lote 193

NOM 1580. Not a fan. Disappointed in this after finding such a great value in the blanco. The repo cost me twice as much as the blanco ($40 at BevMo). I have the blanco on the bar for mixing. Their barrels are doing their juice a disservice—muting the nicer parts of the blanco allowing the poorer accents to take center stage and the barrel flavors can't compensate. For the same price, I could have had Suerte repo! (.67)

NOM 1580 | A wonderful middle ground repo. Maintains so much of its younger, earthy/vegetal self while picking up some great pepper and spice as well as soft oaky richness. Love this.

NOM 1586 | Nose: careful, the butter and oak almost overpower the agave but not completely. A bit of licorice sneaks in at the end of the sniff. Palate is respectable, the agave definitely shows up more here, it goes down easy with a bit of citrus and banana but it’s lacking a bit in complexity. It’s respectable...on the second shelf. The finish is actually nice, a small pepper tingle directly on the middle tongue, then slow fades with a nice faint caramel. This reminds me of Milagro Repo...a nice repo to have when you’re not in a premium mood but don’t want garbage. I’ll sip it neat again.

Same as the blanco, need to let this open. Cooked agave, cinnamon and butterscotch in the aroma. Nice viscosity with musty oak, and orange blossom licorice. The finish brings a little pepper heat, along with some butter and straw. Nice complexities.

NOM 1580 | peppery finish

This is a pretty dark repo, with a fair bit of wood aroma/flavour. The aroma also smells a bit sweet with caramel, vanilla, cherry, and of course agave. Taste is very soft and smooth with wood and caramel/vanilla as the predominant flavours. Finish also very woody, and a bit bitter. Aroma and flavour definitely better than the finish. For me it's a bit too much wood for a Repo and I'd be scared to try the Añejo! It is enjoyable though and if you do like wood forward Reposados/Añejos then give this a taste cause it is pleasant. Tasted in a bar in the Netherlands for 6.50 EUR a shot.

NOM 1580 | Nom 1580 lot 1. Bought this for 27$ and wasn’t expecting much from this tequila, but I must say I’m pleasantly surprised. Upfront is a good, solid taste of agave sweetness with some light floral accents. This quickly gives way to mild heat with peppery undertones, but it is very short. For the price it’s a very “nice” tequila, had I paid more for it my rating would have dropped a bit. I would still purchase Suerte reposado over this for the same price.

NOM 1079 | NOM 1079. Vanilla, caramel, and lavender aroma. Silky and soft at first taste, with increasing vigor. Complex response to different taste bud regions. Sharp finish but not particularly harsh. Exquisite for mixing. Full flavored and a solid winner at $24.95 in San Diego.

Review #131 - Herencia Mexicana Tequila Reposado

I really liked the blanco from this line so I had high expectations since I tend to like reposados quite a bit if the blanco is good.
