Aroma: Strong aroma of caramel, with vanilla, and oak. Taste: Sweet caramel and vanilla across the palate. Finish: Burst of sweetness on the finish, mixed with a somewhat acrid and unpleasant bitterness on the end that lingers. Overall: In the words of comrade Dyatlov, not great, not terrible.

Very one dimensional flavor that tastes artificial. Great long finish is likely from the barrels. While the cognac barrel finishing drives up the price, this tequila seems way overpriced for its one dimensional flavor. For the price, there are some anejos and XAs that are better.

Smell sets up expectations high: caramel, vanilla and agave. Taste is not good, however: artificial sweetness first, then some chemical after taste. At this price point complete rip-off.

Not bad at all, I like this. Not too oaky like some añejos, agave is fairly present on the palate. Overpriced but not by too much in my opinion. If I could find this without having to pay WA liquor tax I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it.

Fantastic oak / wood flavors show up in this cognac rested, very old (a full two years) añejo. Silky smooth. This tequila snob is very happy. Clove & peppery Nose and pallet. A bit of honey & vanilla peek through too. The bottle is an exquisite piece of art to match! Senor Rio himself is etched into the glass stopper.

Nice glass of tequila here. Overall a medium good complexity in that mid range price point. All flavors are what they are supposed to be with slight wood and agave still present.

Aroma Nice earthy agave, oak with some citrus. Med-heavy body with a earthy agave taste with hints of oak and vanilla. Very clean finish and a good sipper.

Good tequila. Even better than good. But does not live up to the hype of a truly GREAT tequila. There are better ones out there and for a better price. But I'm still going to enjoy finishing this one off. ;-)

Review #269 - Senor Rio Tequila Anejo

I walked into this brand knowing literally nothing about it. I knew that it was from NOM 1137, which could mean just about anything given the huge size of that distillery.

Senor Rio is a tequila that would make her father proud

Senor Rio tequila is a little different. The marketing force behind it is the founders of the tequila themselves.
