This is what I’m always looking for, tastes like agave from top to bottom. This is fucking amazing.

Aroma: herbal, sweet cooked agave, melon, light smoky, oak, fruits, anise. Palate; sweet cooked agave, grass, citrus, anise, mint, oak, alcohol. Finish medium and alcohol at the end in upper palate and back of tongue.

Buttery caramelized agave nose. Minerals and spice. Coats the tongue nicely with cinnamon caramel spice zing. Pepper kicks it up. Some licorice in the finish. Great value tequila.

Very very smooth. Lots of agave in the scent alone. I get a light body I wish was thicker. At $15 online it might be my favorite blanc under $20 for now.

2010 bottle. This one needs time to open up; the initial impression is all alcohol. After a few minutes I’m getting vanilla, anise, pepper, grass, and (raw?) agave. Maybe faint oak as well. It’s pretty hot on the palate, but the sweet vanilla from the short barrel rest helps balance it out. This is a little too simple and boozy for me to call it top-tier, but it’s definitely enjoyable. It’s also opened up very nicely in the bottle after a couple of weeks. I rated this blind with the current El Tequileño and it made me appreciate the vanilla notes more, but the tradeoff is less agave. Both are great as sippers and mixers!

This is a re-review from a product I tasted 2 years ago. The aroma has a grassiness with alcohol. The aroma is light and subtle. Not tremendously bold. The flavor has some agave with the grassiness but what really comes through is anise. The finish is smooth with more anise. I’ve mentioned anise twice but it is not overpowering. This gets extra points for price and if you like your tequila with a touch of anise, then this will make you happy. If anise is not your thing, pick up something else. I would rather have the increased points on flavor vs price point.
