For not being an extra Añejo lover I sure like this, it’s a really great use of barrel manipulation. Some agave left on the corners while the body is very reminiscent of Armagnac.

Nose has lovely round ripe agave notes. Bright fruity berry and cherry, with baking spices and vanilla/butterscotch undercurrents. A little earthiness adds interest. Flavors: Sweet barrel spice, caramelized agave and mellow pepper. Nice mouth feel.

Excellent extra aged añejo with great spice overtones on the nose and the palate. Thanks to Don Nom for the hookup on this, for me, hard to find bottle. This XA is light in color, resembling an Ocho or G4 approach, but has a great aroma even from a freshly opened bottle. Aromatic wood and baking spice come through with some alcohol. Sipping reveals a light flavor with oak and some spice that fades to a mid tongue, numbing finish that is very long lasting.

Pretty darn delicious- too bad it's rare. A beautiful, rounded caramel finish, almost dulce de leche. Cooked agave and vanilla nose.

Very well aged tequila. If you see a bottle of this somewhere, buy it! Rated blind. Hay, agave, dried fruit, aromas. Has some butter in the flavor and finish. Tastes totally real, with additives.

A lot of fruit and sweet wood on the nose, especially vanilla. Sweet entry which quickly turns more earthy, with notes of black tea and anise. Oaky finish of moderate length.

Lote: LTNC303, bottled on 18-12-2017. 38% abv. Color: yellow to dark yellow. Aroma: vanilla and oak, 30 minutes in the glass I can smell a pungent agave honey note, sweet agave, alcohol sensation is medium, slight acidity, good sweet sour and acidic balance. Agave sweetness at the end appears much more intense! Palate: sweet cooked agave with sweet vanilla, sweet to the level of almost cloying, in the mouth the vanilla feels more intense than agave notes, oak wood, burnt warm caramel. Light black pepper. Finish is medium to long, vanilla, caramel with light agave notes persist.

The last few tequilas I’ve checked in are from a trip to Mexico City with a buddy and the majority of places have crap tequila. We found this and some other legit gems at Cantina Salon Espana. It’s a must stop if you’re in Mexico City.

Fresh agave with barrel spices are prevalent on the nose. Opens beautifully in the glass with a natural oaked agave flavor accented with a hint anise and banana. Mild but long finish.

Man founds this beautiful gem couldn’t pass up especially for the price I got it for when referencing the internet prices. It was a steal.

This is just a fine tasting, amazingly drinkable Extra Anejo. The flavours are very light with just a hint of smoke. Almost reminds me of a delicious, slightly heavy and not too sweet Sauterne. It’s somewhat expensive, but not crazy and in the ballpark of Don Julio 1942. I like it and would definitely buy again.

94.5 points. Tried the old round bottle version and it has notes of agave, apple, caramel, pepper, and a little chocolate.

At this price point, any tequila should be excellent, almost perfect.

Review #300 - Centinela Tequila Extra Anejo (3 year anejo)

I've always liked the profile of the Centinela brand. They produce a taste unlike any other tequila out there right now.
