Aged in white oak for 9 months. Very light in color. Nose: Vanilla, butterscotch and ripe round fruit. Light pepper. Flavors: Nutty toffee, black pepper and graham cracker spices. Viscous in the mouth. A little flowery. It finishes leaving you knowing that you have tasted a solid tequila. Some fruit and bold baking spices evolve at the last moment....

Mexican 38% abv., lote: CAR2214, bottled on 20-06-2016, tasted on 10-13-23. Color: light yellow to yellow. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, light citrus, light acidity, a touch of stone fruit sweetness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, slightly earthy. Finish is medium to medium long, light sweet cooked agave with a touch of stone fruit sweetness persists.

Went in searching for 7L Repo and walked out with this at the suggestion of the store owner. This is an excellent tequila! Really good aroma and taste of cooked agave, but it has just enough vanilla to balance it out with some sweetness. It has a hint of green olive (not as much as Forteleza) that gives it some nice depth. It is very smooth on the taste and the swallow, but has a black pepper finish to give a little bite as it lingers. This has moved up to the top third of my list of favorite tequilas!

At $60 CND this tequila is a good buy for a more experienced tequila palate. Inexperienced tequila drinkers have found it a little too much for them compared to the sweeter, easier drinking comparables such as the 1800 reposado or Amate reposado.

Review #307 - Cava Don Anastacio Tequila Reposado

Cava Don Anastacio produced a stellar blanco juice. It goes without saying that I am very much looking forward to diving in and tasting what they do with it in the barrel.
