Well we have fixed the harsh ending with more oak treatment but the base still hasn’t improved, I just don’t dig their house style.

Nose: Butterscotch, earth, dark cherry notes with oak and some smokiness. Flavor: Oily with warming barrel spices, predominantly cinnamon and cloves. Vanilla and pepper roll in next, followed by a slightly annoying sweet aftertaste with some bitterness. A hint of sulfur.

Strong alcohol and oak... Prefer the repo.

Beautiful amber color with a wonderful consistency. Aroma; agave, citrus, wood and spice. Taste; pepper, honey, wood and light agave., with a lingering sweet finish. Unfortunately the pepper overwhelms all other flavors for me. Lacks the smoothness I enjoy in an Anejo.

Too harsh for an anejo, but decent flavor.

Yeah not really impressive for an añejo. The price is high for the quality. Very sweet but still has an alcohol overpowering taste to me. Alcohol, oak, cherry on the nose. Vanilla, carmel, smoke and alcohol in the mouth. A little cooked agave and vanilla in the finish but more alcohol burn.

Not much nose IMO Not a great example of an Añejo, wood wasn’t really discernible nor was the agave. So so

This line continues to deliver! Very warm and cream soda vanilla on the nose, baked agave meets heavy (in a good way) vanilla on the taste. Finishes with a fine tingle on the lips and you’re not annoyed when you feel it going down (neat). Beautiful amber color.

Aroma is full of cherry, butterscotch, and smoke. Flavor hints on agave but cloves overpower. Finish has some vanilla and astringent with a sweet medicinal after taste

Good go to tequila when you drank all of your good stuff.

mild not overpowered, some vanilla, oak, spices, bell peppers, mild jalapeno bland and flat on the pallet, easy to throw down, hot on the finish.

Soft sweetness at first. Not overpowering sweetness. Finishes spicy on the tongue. Warm going down. Does not stick to lips. Spicy but very smooth.

My first anejo, and its excellent! Not as thick or syrupy or dark as I was expecting in an anejo, but so smooth and a wonderful aroma

Nice initial aroma but taken over by the alcohol, like vanilla extract. Hot peppery alcohol start but smooth going down, the finish is subtle and warm. Not our favorite. Many more great tequilas in the same price range.

Alcohol, cooked agave followed by vanilla and oak as most predominant aromas for me. Not typically what I'm used to in an añejo, less sweet and more repasado like. A little hot on the tounge with vanilla cooked agave and oak up front and a dyness on the warm finish.

El Olor: What a nice glass to sniff on for a moment. The scent is present with out polluting. It is light and herbal. It almost smells like a young reposado in that it isn't overly earthy or oaked but also light enough that the agave is light and welcoming like a more aged reposado. I think I might know which tequila this is and that doesn't add up, however it is very nice. El Sabor: This is what I would imagine orchids and vanilla to taste like. A little of that earthy agave is present but so is a buttery note near the end. This seems more anejo to me but not so much that it barks at you. Very very smooth without being overly processed. El Final: What a nice finish! Easy on the palate and smooth with just enough linger and mouth feel to remind you of the beautiful sip you just took but not so long it competes with food. I'd match this tequila with a good smoked chicken or even mole sauce, but it could be equally at home with guacamole or charo-beans.

Very nice aroma and smooth taste. Finish is ok. The repo defiantly wins hands down in all areas however. Also is a bit pricey too

I can't understand the hype around Corralejo. I already tasted the blanco, which was terrible. The anejo is a bit better but still bad, with a metallic aroma and harsh alcoholic taste. There is no wood at all. Doesn't taste like an anejo. Maybe ok in a cocktail. Pure a bit of a pain in the ass.

Review #259 - Corralejo Tequila Anejo

This is my last review of the Corralejo line. I've been really impressed with rest of the line. Very good flavor and really good value. I hope the anejo is as good as his younger siblings.
