2002 release
Maybe I got a bad batch but it was alcohol forward with a hint of paint thinner. Just based on this would not recommend
On the nose, I get oak, caramel, cooked agave. A little ethanol. A vegetal note, and some grass. On the palate, that cooked agave is there, it’s got some heat but also a little creamy. Oak, a little bitterness that isn’t bad. Overall, this is decent. A little rough for a sipper but I can see this making some good margaritas.
Nice light straw color in the glass. Aroma of butterscotch right away but that doesn’t translate as strongly in flavor, though still there. Cooked agave sweetness, short finish without much heat. I can definitely sip this one and see it making a nice cocktail as well. Very good value here!
I can’t get enough of this, maybe it’s because I naturally love $20 tequila but it’s performing in every category. Amazing finish, marshmallow and praline....this bottle is a gem.
Mexican 35%. It appears to be a mixto, judging from the labeling..... Nose delivers big aromas and more punch than I would have guessed from a 35% ABV: Agave, dark ripe berries, licorice and black pepper. Palate: A little thin in the mouth. Licorice persists with some mint and pepper.
Good bargain alternative to the more expensive Centinela line. Aromas of oak and agave with some hints of bitterness from the aging. Not a sweet or viscous reposado at all. Short fading finish.
I rated this tequila blind, during the 2013 Spirits of Mexico competition in San Diego.
Old School Flavor ....Great Value $ Go For The Goat....

Best value tequila IMO. Especially when whipping up cocktails.
Great value tequila for mixed drinks. Nice vanilla flavor mixed with woodsy florals
Great Value Reposado Tequila for Paloma’s. Use this with Fresca and ReaLemon juice with a dash of salt and you will make your guests real happy.
Mexican 38% abv. versión, LT-NMR-008, bottled on 15-FEB-12, tasted on 10-16-23. Color: yellow to light yellow. Aroma: cooked agave, earthy, dirt, light vanilla, light acidity, light orange note. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet sour and acidic balance. Finish is medium to medium long, cooked agave with orange and earthy notes persist.
It’s sweet, but it has nice alcohol hit and nice barrel notes. There’s butter to it too. It is suspiciously sweet, but this is a good drink.
Nice sweeter taste. Good finish
My go to in rural Mexico never disappoints, not the same flavor in U.S. product. IMO
Smells pretty decent. Has a nice peppery heat with a pretty long finish. A bit too much alcohol on the nose and taste for me.
You can get this even under 20€ - even though we do not have 1L bottles here, this stuff is hard to beat valuewise.
Great value. Around 20 dollars. Mediocre aroma with an average flavor. Some light agave with a soft mouthfeel. Finish is short.
For the money, it's probably one of the best reposados out there. Not high end but much better than many other reposado tequilas.
This was an incredible value at $20 a liter about 2 years ago, but recent bottles have gotten worse in my opinion. I’ve tasted several bottles that had really nice butterscotch/vanilla/black pepper notes, but more recent bottles have had an herbal, bitter funk and they’re very thin. I tasted El Tequileño reposado recently (not their Gran Reserva, the standard repo) and its profile was very reminiscent of what this used to be. There may still be good bottles of this floating out there, or this repo might just be inconsistent from batch to batch. Either way, I would recommend paying ~$10 more for El Tequileño if you want a great budget repo.

Wow what a nose on this. Rich apple on the nose and palate. Totally different than what I’ve tried. 2004 bottle
