Nose: chocolate, nutmeg, cardamom, oak, wet wood Palate: mizunara taste but ruined with this cloyingness and way too much chocolate.

As much as I despise the price tag on this bottle & the fact that Casa Dragones uses an industrial diffuser-ish method of cooking/distilling, I’ve got to give credit where credit is due. This is a tasty Reposado. It tastes like a well rested repo, with plenty of influence coming from the Japanese oak. Floral notes on the nose in addition to mint and butterscotch. Oaky agave and some tea/vanilla notes with a thicker viscosity on the tongue, plus a sweet fulfilling finish. A pleasant surprise!

Lote: 03MX, bottled on 26-09-2022. Color: yellow. Aroma: at the beginning it is astringent, I let it sit for 20 minutes and the wood note softens, light mint, light cinnamon, old wood cabinet, it has a vanilla sweetness that is mixed with the wood note that is quite peculiar, rare. Light dust. White pepper. Palate: strong sweetness with strong wood notes, white pepper, dusty, spicy, old wood cabinet aromas through muy retronasal. Wood influence is too impregnating. Finish is medium to long, old wood cabinet, white pepper and vanilla aroma persist.

Sampled this at a restaurant. Overpriced for what you are getting. The initial taste was somewhat pleasant, but the finish was very bad for me. Bitter and astringent and harsh. The price, finish and not wanting to recommend this brings the score way down for me.

Subtle sweetness with a touch of “new shoe” on the nose. The palate reveals sweet agave and a vegetal, home-grown carrot note. The finish is short and a touch tannic.

This has a similar profile to the Anejo from Casa Dragones, with the extra attention being drawn to the Japanese wood used in the aging process. It has a bit of a sophisticated (if just a bit too sweet) smell and taste, and has the gorgeous shelf presence of other Casa Dragones products. I would have recommended this before, but now I would say if you like this and the anejo you probably just like whiskey, and I would offer a different reposado or anejo to someone as a better example of an aged tequila.

Very light amber color in the glass. Aroma of cooked agave, oak and grass. Flavor is light oak, agave and an astringent character. Not much of a finish. Try as they might it's tough to hide the diffuser process.
