The only cristalino I would actually drink. Master Distiller Ana Maria Meno nailed this "filtering" process after barrel aging correctly. Not only did she manage to retain some color, but retained earthy aromas and flavors without the use of additives. I appreciate her effort.

Aroma: Very faint notes vanilla and cooked agave. Taste: A nice minerality, slightly sweet, light and smooth, almost muted, with notes of black pepper. Finish: Very smooth, with a bite of cooked agave, pepper, and alcohol at the end. Overall: The only good cristalino I’ve had so far.

Honestly the best Cristalino I have tasted, not overly complex and honestly pricey for what it is but it’s decent, drinkable. For people that like more straightforward spirits.

I still think cristalinos are a gimmick, and always will, but this and El Tequileño are the only ones that I would consider drinking

This Cristalino is smooth and sweet at the same time. Cristalino’s should be their own category. Of all of them out there, this is the best.

Yet again I’m faced with a cristalino devoid of any semblance of agave! Sharp alcohols drive the bus the entire time, it’s really not pleasant.

Ok is a Cristalino but I still get the agave present. Compare to another Cristalino this one taste good. I would recommend it but won't buy it again. I can taste some Agave and sweetness cant tell what it is but has a good finish

Just a tinge of straw to the color. Nose: Dark ripe fruit, dried pitted fruit, creamy vanilla and piquant mineral notes. A faint hint of tobacco. Flavors come on much more forcefully than the nosing. Popping baking spices greet snickerdoodle cookie dough flavors. There’s vanilla, almond paste and light nuttiness going on. As a counterpoint to the sweetness, there is numbing black and crushed red pepper heat. Finish: Pleasing lengthy, balanced finish. Sweet - but not dessert type sweet. Nice pinging pepper lingers.

Aromas of caramel, vanilla and dried fruit. The aroma has a barrel warmth to it, not flat or one note. Similar light touch flavors and I can still detect some barrel tannins in the mouth- rare for a cristalino! I like that the color is slightly golden so it won’t be visually confused with a blanco. This is an elegant example of the expression.

This is a cristalino that’s actually not bad. I am surprised. It hasn’t been overly filtered, so you still get some barrel notes. Vanilla, chocolate, slight cake batter. Some agave in the flavor. Has a medium thick mouth feel. Some tannins on the finish. Surprisingly good. There is still some color left to this, which is evidence that it hasn’t been overly filtered like most cristalinos.

My first bottle in the cristalino category. Notes of vanilla, tobacco, caramel, and agave. Suggest letting it breathe for a bit. Nicely done.

Bottle: Batch No. 1, Date 21/07/17, L060F17021789 Appearance: Light straw Nose: Green apple, caramel, nuts, alcohol, vanilla, raisin, butter, lemon, citrus, honey, smoke, lemongrass, alcohol, oak, baking spice, cinnamon, caramel, black pepper, tobacco, cooked agave, and slightly astringent…sweet, sour, and spicy Palate: Green apple, lemon, raisin, nuts, vanilla, alcohol, cinnamon, baking spice, barrel spice, oak, honey, tobacco, whiskey, coconut, brine/salinity, white and black pepper, caramel, molasses, butter, minerality, clove, cooked agave, and slightly astringent…very similar to the nose Finish: Brown sugar, molasses, and cinnamon…sweet, fleeting, and short Overall: I didn’t think I would enjoy a cristalino until having tried this. The depth on the nose was surprising and the palate very closely followed suit. The only thing keeping the score down was the slight astringency that felt out of place, comparatively. I’m excited to try the reposado cristalino now and see how it compares.

The anejo is clean, additive free, smooth, near perfect.

This tequila is remarkable. Aroma is excellent. Agave drives it with caramel, oak, butter, barrel spice, alcohol, and anise barrel notes on the finish. It has a velvety oakiness agave buttery caramel finish that I wish lasted longer.

This was bright and citrus flavored. Very smooth on the palate and a departure from other cristalinos. It was good and would be good chilled. The price is what too high for what it is and what else is out there.

Nothing left but caramel and maybe some agave. Nothing to appreciate here.

Interesting one, definitely not advanced enough to appreciate cristiliano, it makes no sense to me, but it is a kinda nice blanco, I liked it. not the value for the price for me

Compared lot L050F170105 bottled on 21-06-2017 with marbete from 2014 with lot L111E180121 bottled on 13-09-2018 with marbete from 2016, on the front label the lote L05 has the word añejo smaller than the other one and states it is lot No.1 Lot L050F170105: Color: transparent like a blanco, although looking at the bottle it looks slightly orange but it’s from the bottle. This bottles has small white snow flake like particles inside. Aroma: raw agave, light ethanol sensation that is not sweet but bitter, vanilla, very light wood notes, earthy. Palate: light vanilla, slightly astringent, vanilla and light bitterness through retronasal, feels thin, earthy, just a hint of raw agave. Soft. Finish is short, light vanilla notes fade out quite quickly, on the retronasal I can smell light vanilla and wood notes that are not natural. Lot L111E180121 has slightly less vanilla aroma but slightly more woody and more astringent than the previous lot. Pretty consistent…

Fans of cognac will enjoy this very much. If it wasn’t certified additive free I would think it was literally blended with cognac.

I really wanted to enjoy the volcan cristalino, as it is one of the very few additive free cristalinos, but this came off so astringent to me. it was bitter, had a little bit of fruit flavor. small amount of spice and nuttiness but overall was not pleasant for me. tried to let it air out, tried to use different glasses, and it just didn't work.

Nose: Cotton candy Cherry Almond Flavor: Cherry Light chocolate Almond/amaretto Vanilla I’m getting quite a bit of cherry in both aroma and flavor. Picking up very little agave and oak. Tastes a bit like cherry cough syrup. I keep hearing how good this is for a cristalino—not impressed. My first cristalino and probably my last.

Cristalino -- The Hot New Tequila You Haven't Heard Of

It's been popular in Mexico for several years now, but cristalino tequila is still a pretty foreign concept in the United States.
