Tasting this for the first time. I’m a big fan of 1146 and Enrique Fonseca. A lot of flavor here and a good price for a 5 year XA. Lots of barrel but not overpowering.

Whisky and fruit on the nose. Taste whisky, oak, maple, raisin, cinnamon. It’s got nice legs but surprisingly thin mouthfeel. Pretty good and if you want something whisky forward.

Short finish holds this back in my rating. Quite whiskey forward from aging in what were probably fresh bourbon barrels though with Senor Fonseca behind this brand some blending has probably taken place. I get that you may not be a whiskey fan but this doesn't deserve a rating in the 60s which to me is low C or high D. To each their own??

Rich, strong aroma you can smell as soon as the bottle is uncorked. Oak and butterscotch dominate the aroma with slight floral and fruit notes. Tons of barrel in the flavor with a nice spice (cinnamon and black pepper) that show up after a surprising delay. And, did I say tons of barrel...which moves the flavor too far toward a whiskey for my taste. Surprisingly short on the finish.

Nose: After Opening this is STRONG! Mainly acetone and whiskey notes out of the bottle. After stilling in the glass for 10 minutes the acetone fades almost completely. Nose turns to whiskey barrels with butterscotch and Carmel. Flavor: very barrel heavy. Whisky butterscotch, Carmel little vanilla, alcohol. Finish was very short after trying right out of the bottle. After sitting in the glass more complex with butterscotch, Carmel vanilla.
