Amazing 1978 46 ABV. Great cooked agave, spice, perfectly balanced. This is an old school keeper. Salud

Agave, pepper, jalapeño, and vanilla with a rich feel and a long sweet and spicy finish.

I had to circle back and try this after a year, I felt like I missed something and I was right! The agave is present on the nose.....you just gotta dig a little to find it, don’t swirl this in your glass, it’s too punchy and will overpower your senses!!! Nutty, pepper, agave, has this roasted hazelnut thing going on that I’ve never run across before. Doesn’t fade away quietly, this wants to stay up and party as long as possible.

Herradura 46 the sequel. (Not to be confused with the old school juice). Bottled August of 2017. Nose: Grass, straw, white pepper and thyme? Some agave, sweetness and spiciness. Flavor: Fruit, agave, jalapeños, and grapefruit zest. Graham cracker and crackerjack nuttiness. Bold. Slightly offputting sweetness on the finish.

Loads of grass and agave on the nose. Short and hot finish, white pepper all over.

Wow what a blast! This bottle is from 1996 and just completely blows my mind how good this is from all of or in spite of the time passed since this was distilled and bottled. Agave and alcohol combine to give a big fresh blast of mint and pepper along with green agave. The finish is amazing and protracted leaving a sweet tongue numbing vibe that goes on for minutes. Get some.

Crazy celery and pepper aromas. Oily mouthfeel and mint finish. Delicious!

We will see after it airs out a bit.

Bottle from 2002

This is a very old bottle from 2001, and its 46% alcohol (92 proof). This is a very solid and sippable blanco with character. Too bad you can't buy this anymore.

LOT: 19235J1421 View: Fully transparent: Freshly served; Aroma: a lot of pepper, minerality, salt, a little acetone that opens up a lot, after a few minutes it's the only thing I smell. Flavor: raw agave, salty and acetone. A little sweetness. Aftertaste: slightly citrusy that fades quickly. And black pepper. It also leaves a trace of chemical taste. I let it open for 15 minutes. Aroma: raw agave, herbaceousness, salt, acetone. Taste: A sweetness that seems a little artificial to me with certain notes of aspartame. Salt, acetone. Aftertaste: Fades very quickly, citrus like orange peel and a little pepper, it stings a little on the tongue and palate.

Bumped value…just realized it was a 950ml bottle. Reminds me of Don Abraham

Vegetal funk on the nose and palate, but no sign of any significant additives or any false aftertaste. Really good cooked agave.

On the nose it’s fragrant, herbal, raw agave and then hints of cooked agave, some sweetness and a lot of alcohol! First sip it’s strong and brave! So much body some pepper and then a little smoke of cooked agave and then strong alcohol I like it! It’s rough around the edges, not an easy drink but taste like and old time hard tequila! You should try it at least once!

Peppery but not too much of a bite

LOTE 33 bottled on 18 MAY 99, 750ml. bottle, tasted on 12-3-23. Points are for this version, slightly higher than the version below. Aroma: intense cooked agave, anise, earthy, fermented agave sensation, a hint of dirt, light aromatic herbs, light aromatic green vegetal notes, after 20 minutes the agave notes become even more expressive. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, the agave is not as sweet on the palate as the nose but very expressive & intense, the fermented agave sensation is stronger and confirmed through retronasal. Finish is medium to long, intense cooked agave with light aromatic herbal & green vegetal notes persist. Lote 070518096, bottled on 13 OCT 07. 85 points. On the nose: sweet cooked agave, herbal, brine, black olives, and just enough menthol to "lift" up the aromas! After 15 minutes in the glass the cooked agave becomes very sweet! The palate has a great balance between sweet & sour plus the brine, a pinch of salt adds a whole lot of complexity! Finish is clean, crisp & not cloying. Wow!!!

not sure if this is the same tequila that everyone seems to be rating higher but it was the same looking bottle. smokey agave lending to a strong alcohol nose. straight up agave flavor, smooth finish with some alcohol bite. tasted at planet Hollywood cancun

The only Herradura I would recommend.

Excellent high-proof blanco for the money. Crisp agave forward nose that’s minerally with a citrus nose. Goes down easy with lime notes and hints of mint and anise. Finishes fairly long with a slight numbing spiciness. B+

Good but big burn

Bottle from 2011, its an OK Tequila but didn’t meet my very high expectations as its a much sought after collectors bottle. Did not compare it though to the current version. Agave presence is there, and almonds...reminded me of Don Agustin Tequila Blanco but a little bit too much alcohol presence
