NOM 1586 | Tasting flight @ Little Conejo More of a mixer than a sipper, basic framework tequila Value option
NOM 1586 | Oak forward. Tastes like whiskey. For my money I’ll shop differently.
NOM 1558 | Apparently this on one of those brands that just gets better the longer you age it, I usually find the opposite to be true. I like this tequila because it’s balanced, it’s got enough sweet to counter the heat and earthy tones. A bit too sweet to be elite for me but a great effort, I recommend it.
NOM 1586 | Initial nose is fruit and spices. Undertones of earthiness and a different almond - cheese note. Cinnamon and berries follow. Flavors: Bold baking spice, licorice, medium pepper and heat, followed up with fruit and almonds. Nice in the mouth. Finish: Longish and balanced.
NOM 1414 | I have had this NOM 1414 bottle for some years and the juice inside is still great thanks to synthetic cork technology. 1414 is best known for a number of outstanding reposado tequilas and this anejo builds on that work. Nice barrel spice and a moderately sweet finish make this one of the better Chamuco expressions for a tequila that has moved a lot in the 8 or 9 years since it came to market. Buy these 1414 bottles when you find them in the wild.
Notes of caramel and oak, very slight burn on the finish
NOM 1501 | A little soft on the nose, with notes of caramel and vanilla. Sweet entry, turning a little spicy. Decent finish.
Super mellow on the nose and it's almost hard to decipher. It has hints of cherry and almond. Nice smooth flavor that tastes a bit like vanilla. Nice long finish. A very mellow Anejo that's definitely worth the price tag. NOM 1558
Strong nose of pepper and agave. Later aromas of almond, cherry and coconut. Flavor matches aroma nearly identically with almond and cherry becoming much more evident. Finishes like it starts...nice.
NOM 1586 | Aroma: classic Chamucos funk, barrel spice, raisins Flavor: definitely taste the french oak Finish: smooth, warm
Aroma: Oak, black pepper, and vanilla. Taste: Pineapple, butterscotch, and citrus. very well made tequila, would recommend.
NOM 1586 | Aroma is very nice. Starts out with agave caramel and butterscotch oak and barrel spice. Taste is velvety caramel agave with powerful oak light pepper with barrel notes. Finish is oak barrel coating the back of my palate with light pepper and agave. Wife says finish is more bitter than the reposado.
To be extremely fair, this is just not a flavor profile I personally enjoy. Quality production shows (and tastes) however the underlying smokiness is too much for me. I will recommend to friends who prefer a tequila that leans toward funkiness and a little mezcal-like nose.
NOM 1586 version
Agave, caramel, cherry, Lighter on the oak side Sweet, Not trying to be whiskey
NOM 1586 | Bottle dated 9/6/2023
NOM 1558 | Nose is full of olfactory highs ..fruit, wood, that distinguished funk… to me, smells fantastic. Pallet, light viscosity, like olive oil niche medium finish. Hint of agave, sugar cane ..good balance. I would drink this again
NOM 1586 | Starts off a little harsh then smoothens out nicely. Vanilla forward but the agave comes on strong at the end the finish allows more agave notes to come through like pepper and earthiness and anise. From where it starts it finishes pretty well.
NOM 1586 | The whiskey of tequilas
It’s nice. Not my favorite but better than many other “popular” anejos. I like to pick up something different every time. Worth a try for the price.
NOM 1586 | This is a funky one, the nose is almost lactic with some nuttiness, chocolate, and black pepper as well. More of the same on the palate - it’s pretty sweet and there’s not much agave present. There’s a bit more alcohol than I would prefer throughout the whole experience as well. I appreciate the uniqueness of this añejo, but I prefer a more traditional flavor profile. Still a good value at around $60.
NOM 1586 | Smells like vomit.
On the sweet side but rounded and drinkable
NOM 1501 | Vanilla. Oak. Cooked

NOM 1586 | I’m a blanco guy, but I found this beautifully balanced. Caramel, haze nut, with drops of cherry and spice. Most excellent!
