tasted at cantina mayahuel sept 2014 flight with tonala and grand Mayan Herradura suprema - orange and spice nose, maple honey (Mrs. Butterworth's) palate, tannin dry spicy mint finish. would have rated a few points higher but reduced points for cost

If you like a sweet XA or are coming from bourbon, this is gonna be a home run for you. It’s a bit sweet for my preference, but it is certainly an easy drinking XA with vanilla, caramel, and oak. Definitely knock it for price.

A little too sweet for my palate. Lots of vanilla and caramel notes. Definitely a bourbon drinkers, sipper. Strong barrel notes. Mouth feel is light and easy. Paying for packaging and bottle design. Not in my top 10 of XA’s.

Excellent nose. I find this one an amazing transition for bourbon drinkers. It dies quickly…. Very short finish and the price is too expensive.

Loads and loads of caramel with some vanilla. Definitely a dessert sipper. Can we confirm additive free?

This older añejo aka XA hits on a whole other level. Doesn't compare to the newer post-diffuser era Herraduras, and I've had both. While the newer versions are thinner and not as complex, this older one, packs an agave punch with mocha, plantains, tapioca, dried pineapple, butterscotch, raisins, with hints of churros!. Thing of beauty the older one is. Hard to find nowadays.

Aroma: Notes of caramelized green apple, very similar to a good bourbon but with hints of cooked agave. Flavor: Sweet and smooth, oaky and balanced with slight caramel. Finish: Oak, caramel, vanilla, and a burst of spice. Overall: An amazingly good tequila, seamlessly mixes some of my favorite aspects of tequila and bourbon. The only downside is the price, but if you can pull it off, it’s worth it.

En Nariz: caramelo, roble, ciruela pasa, datil, miel En boca es más fresco, ciruela, almendra, agave cocido. si no tomamos en cuenta el precio, es un muy buen tequila, por ese rango de precios desde luego hay mejores

So smooth, so soft, so delicious! Still has s touch of agave left but this is really about barrel manipulation and how it can be soooooo great of done correctly. This is the first XA I ever loved and nothing has changed over the years, it’s friendly and familiar.

Very spicy and oaky, a little overly aggressive for my liking. Would be great for a whiskey drinker.

Nose: Jammy tropical fruit with berry undercurrents. A graham cracker nuanced cinnamon creeps in. Flavors: Oak and bourbon step in and overpower the fruit and agave nose. Some vanilla peeks through. Finish is longish and fairly balanced, but not inspired.

I like the flavor, but I don't taste any flavors distinctive enough to mention and the finish is rather mild. I can't imagine spending this much for this bottle.

Aroma is musty, nutty and earthy with a touch of citrus. Sweet on entry which quickly turns musty and woody. Nicely balance finish that is warm, sweet and woodsy. Tasty.

Aroma: wood, brown sugar, vanilla. Flavors of wood, honey, black pepper and vanilla compliment each other. The smooth finish takes on flavors of vanilla and nutmeg. An enjoyable tequila with a prohibitive price point

Rated blind. Amber color with slow thick legs. Very woody nose at the top of the glass. More of a toasted almond nose toward the bottom. Enters smooth and thick. Woody on the palate with just a touch of heat. Long finish, dry. It's pleasant enough, but even if someone else were paying for it, I would probably ask for something else. I don't like this enough for anyone to pay $300 for me to drink it.

The aroma is very light and mild. On the nose there is a slight hint of butterscotch and vanilla. But, there is also another note that is bitter and not super pleasant. The flavor is slightly oaky but very heavy in mint. The flavor again is slightly bitter. I was hoping more of the butterscotch would come through in the flavor but it definitely gets lost.

From a blind tasting. Very bourbony, very. Second sip reveals some creamy agave and oak that resolves to a moderately sweet finish. Some slight numbing goes with this.

I tried this at the tasting held at Traveler Montlake. This was my favorite out of the three and surprised me because it is not my usual taste palette. I am no expert when it comes to cognac but to me this compares to the best cognac I've had.

Great Googly Moogly. Can someone please buy me a bottle of this once a month? This might be my perfect mouthful of tequila. Crazy clean mouth feel, touch of bright citrus, no weird side effects in the finish. My first 99.

This sample has a very nice aroma with a hint of an apple note, which appears also in the palate. It's quite balanced and with the right amount of oak. The turn offs which prevents it from being a life changer are the too faint presence of agave in the nose, palate and in the short finish, plus of course the hefty price! A very good juice nonetheless.
