Blind tasting: 2/4/2024 Aroma: clean and crisp with a nice citrus nose. Lemon zest and grapefruit at first followed by cinnamon. Hints of cardamom and wet cement. Flavor: a lot of lemon sweetness followed by some allspice and a heavy dose of cinnamon. Very clean drinking. Finish: medium length with a slight warming in the chest.
Very nice on the aroma. Fairly sweet on the taste. Overall, this is a good tequila!
Originally I had this at a tequila festival out of a small plastic cup which didn’t blow me away. I was urged to retry it and glad I did. On the nose I find a fresh and bright agave earthiness, citrus fruit (melon), tad bit of minerals and slight vanilla on the backend end. The palate is balanced with cooked agave, citrusy fruit like melons, slight earthiness, little anise and mint right before a mild peppery finish. This has a medium finish with the light pepper that stays on the tongue I pulled this from a 78 to a 83 after spending some time with it.
latf 2023 tasting
The first taste was sweet with soft wet stone. I do enjoy this Blanco and would buy again. The aroma to me, after airing out, is Stone,Pears,Green Apples, Green Grapes,Floral,Autoclave nuttiness,Chamapagne and Caramel tucked in the back. The initial taste is flash of bundle sweetness and zesty cream soda stoniness (makes me think of ICEE), cloying heat that dances on the tongued and throat, simultaneously tasting of citrus, mints, green fruits and nuttiness. The dry down is not overly remarkable, slight spice, a nice quiet fade away. I got this bottle for 30$ which affects the overall score. It’s a great price for a delicious drink, especially with prices these days.
Great nose of citrus, agave, and light pepper. The taste doesn’t quite match up to the nose but has similar notes with some slight anise. Short finish but overall great value
A – Butter, dulce de leche, honey, cola, anise, allspice, get in my belly aromas! In the best way, minerals and yeast. Cooked agave and alcohol, of course. I’m a sucker for sweets and I can’t wait to taste. T – My initial experience in nosing was matched during the tasting process. Anise, cola, cinnamon, allspice, cooked agave, black pepper. Traveled around the tasting wheel and checked off mint, basil, and oregano heading into the finish. F – An excellent finish, warming my upper chest with each sip. Overall – This had an oily mouthfeel that speaks to me. The more I drink it, the more I like it. Chef’s kiss!
Rated as part of a blind taste test, surprising results! Aroma: Initially hits with aromas of fruit, upon taking the time to single one out, honeydew melon. The fruit aromas meld with cooked agave to produce a very interesting sweetness. Taste: Very mild, with a light and silky mouthfeel, slightly fruity. Finish: A fruit filled finish, the flavors of melon from the aroma reappear. Very nice overall, with some herbal notes, as well as anise and spice.
This was my favorite in a blind tasting of top 10 additive-free blancos and I'm completely shocked. I even revisited it to make sure. I don't even know what's happening anymore. N- vegetal, brine, ripe melon T- wow! Well balanced throughout. caramelized agave, melon, minerality, bell pepper, nutmeg MF- oily F- short, soft, and clean
Solid blanco. Lot of hype lately for it and I personally don’t see that. Doesn’t mean its not great. Above average mixer but below average sipper. Kind of caught in the middle for me.
Very nice nose with a vegetal aroma, this is slightly viscous with some pepper and agave for days.
This one is unique Aroma: cooked agave, soil, a hint of butterscotch Taste: almost like a campfire. Woodchips, smoke, sweet smoky agave. Delicious and unique Finish: very oily at first but dissolves away quickly Is this cimarron?
Original tasting—Agave, grapefruit, pepper, earth, and a bit medicinal. 80 Taste again blind—Some light agave on the nose. Flavors of agave, pepper, herbs. Slight bitter twang on the short finish. 82 Another try: Agave, pepper, earth. Nicer than I remember, raising my score. 84
A really pleasurable, sweet and fruity easy to drink, well made Blanco. I'm giving this an 88 and I'm giving the brand new Blanco 'Smoke' an 85
Very overpriced for a blanco that honestly is very forgettable. Good but nowhere near its price point.
Very nice nose, and somewhat unusual with Orange Blossom, pineapple, and a bit of funk. Noticeably creamy mouth feel and flavors of cooked agave, some sweet nuttiness. Finishes with a bit of a savory/earthy taste I don’t adore.
older version!
Blends its frutal, citrus and spicy notes which combines with the sweet agave notes, resulting in a well finished experience. Flavors: Cooked agave, pineapple, mandarin & sweet orange along with a minty/white pepper layer
Overripe vegetation and earthy aroma, flavor and finish are aggressively bracing, acetone on the finish but it goes so quickly you hardly notice. Need to revisit this one with food pairings, I might be writing it off prematurely.
Aroma: cooked agave, slight sweet, citrus/grapefruit. earthy/soil Flavor: nutty, smoky, sweet Finish: viscous, baking spices
I smell sweet agave, celery and a light vegetal note. The notes are light but clean. I taste green agave along with some sweet fruit and then white pepper. The finish has a nice alcohol tingle and peppery finish. This is a nice clean and pleasant blanco. - Updated rating from the 2022 TMM Blind Blanco - 8/19/22
A well made blanco offering a great value. Awesome bottling and agave to match.
Really big pepper on the nose, doesn’t have tons of roasted agave that pops out but it’s definitely there. Citrus and subtle sweetness that struggles to get past mid palette but once it does it has a beautiful, long finish.
This score reflects the changes made from the original recipe, and is the current version score. Nose: To fully appreciate the aromas required repeated swirling - finally conjuring up light colored tree fruit, citrus and spice. Pronounced sweet agave. A nose tickle of minerals, and a tease aroma of juicy fruit gum. Flavor: Assertive punches of cinnamon, pepper and agave play on the palate with a warm oily feel. A faint ripe pineapple aftertaste. A pleasant blend of heat + sweet + silky salinity. My score for the new and improved Volcan de Mi Tierra is considerably higher than my previous rating for lote 1, of 79. Original version lote #1 I tasted the first lote of the new iteration by Moët Hennessy. 25% Los Altos agave, 75% Valle agave. Original score from 4+ years ago: 79. Nose: A stray aroma of canned pears, vanilla, cinnamon, minerals and a resin like note. Flavor: Lively zing of spices: cinnamon, cloves, green peppercorns, with some oiliness. Agave is present in the background, but there is a slightly odd sweet element to it. The resin like nuance brings some bitterness to the warm finish.

A bit of tingle on the nose— but pleasant. Butter cream sweetness — deliciously balanced, a nice mineral presence mid-palate, cooked agave. A quick finish but clean and balanced between tropical sweetness and minerality.
