Warming initial nasal impact. Aroma leads with cooked agave and golden raisins soaked in whiskey (not sweet bourbon). Slightly Irish whiskey note on first sip and somewhat light oily mouthfeel. Cooked agave, golden raisin, cinnamon, baking spice and some dried fruit hit on the palate. Medium finish with lingering cooked agave and the baking holding on the finish.

Nose: Lively aromas of ripe berries, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. A slight perfume nuance. Caramel like agave aromas with light white pepper as it opens up. Flavor: The spiciness persists in the tasting, with rich sweet agave at the forefront. The barrel spices fill the palate. Some anise and slight bitterness follow. Finish: This repo has a dynamic tequila profile that has some staying power in the finish. I’ve enjoyed it! 2010 tax stamp. It lost a point on price point... Be very careful opening these older bottles - I had a cork malfunction.

Several year old .375ml bottle that tastes very fresh. Great floral notes in the glass right after pouring that evolve to include roast agave and barrel spice on sitting for several minutes. Spicy in the mouth with oak and agave in great quantity. Nice refreshing finish that ends on a nice sweet note that fades to slight bitterness. I was told at the distillery that the Unique in the product name comes from the fact the agave harvested all came from a hillside planting. The extra stress makes the agave unique in relation to others Arette uses for it's other products.

The aroma is a bouquet, characterized by prominent yet gentle minerality and candied ethyl notes that evoke a sense of hedonism without being overwhelming. Nuances of vanilla, caramel, and whiskey intermingle harmoniously, alongside subtle hints of cooked sweet potato and a delightful essence reminiscent of sweet leather. The palate is greeted by a tropical symphony of flavors, with pronounced notes of cooked agave and cooked sweet potato leading the way. The influence of bourbon adds a luxurious depth, complemented by layers of butterscotch, light vanilla, and brown sugar. Subtle hints of peppermint and orange citrus contribute to the complexity, while the presence of not fully ripe mango provides a delightful twist. The finish maintains the tropical resonance observed in the initial tasting, accompanied by a delicate undertone of pepperiness and lingering notes of bourbon. These flavors gradually fade away, leaving behind a subtle trace of minerality that adds depth and the want of more.

Mexican 40% abv. version, marbete is from 2009, tasted on 1-21-24. Color: just a tad of yellow. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, light resinous sweetness, hint of vanilla, hint of caramel, light fruitiness, light earthiness, light acidity, it has a wood note that is slightly astringent and gets more intense as time goes by. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, the wood note is slightly astringent and dominating, light black pepper. Finish is medium to long, cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light fruitiness, light earthiness, light black pepper & acidity with wood note persists.

Subtle nose, floral with hints of vanilla. Spicy barrel notes on the palate with vanilla & lots of anise, dry finish. Not my favorite…

I have a 21 year old bartender who has no clue about tequila and just poured me three ounces of this lovely tequila for $8. Steal! Or, as Siri tried to write, Steak! Quixote needs to rely on Rocinante to smell stuff, but this didn’t smell too promising. But all bets were off after the Pamela Anderson, naked wrapped in a Mexican flag, showed up for a visit! Amazing bouquets of flowers falling left and right while guys rush to find her a seat next to them. Such an unexpected treat. I hope someone like Bryan Adams snapped a photo of that. Your fan, Quixote
