This Reposado has been aged for 8 months in American White Oak barrels. It has a nice golden hue and an agave forward nose. The nose is more rounded than the Blanco which was expected. The cooked agave is front and forward and it’s foreshadowing some buttery cooked agave on the palate. There are hints of orange citrus and some light barrel spices that round out the nose. - That buttery cooked agave is there and so are the barrel spices that American White Oak is known to contribute. There’s white pepper that’s attached to the barrel spices. The cooked agave provides a natural sweetness that the orange citrus clings to. The finish has hints of sweetness but it’s mostly warm and peppery. - The taste outshines the nose and the finish is pleasantly peppery. This Reposado is solid and flavorful without being too dense or over-oaked. - Cardenas Legacy Tequila can be purchased online.

This is a newer brand but not from a new brand owner. Chris Cardenas previously produced Anger Management and now he brings us Cardenas Legacy Tequila. They are using a more mature agave but the same quality production process. - The nose is solid and slightly dense. Buttery cooked agave jumps out of the glass and it brings some pleasant citrus notes (grapefruit, lemon & lime) and some elderflower. I’m getting agave, citrus and floral notes. There’s a hint of natural sweetness coming from the cooked agave and a vegetal quality akin to a sliced green pepper. It’s a quality nose. - The first sip gives you a punch of creamy agave and then some nice well rounded white pepper that continues into the finish. It’s a quality first sip. Once I spend some time with it I continue to get the cooked agave that presents itself as dense and creamy. On the mid-palate the buttery agave picks up some nice minerality. The pepper is slightly spicy like a fresh jalapeño. The spice is detectable from beginning to end but it’s not hot, it has a quality vegetal spicy characteristic. This is a solid blanco that sips nicely. It’s not overly complicated but it’s a great pour that can and should be your daily sip. It’s also a nice bang for the buck and it can be purchased online.

Aroma: little bit of alcohol, black pepper, hint of lime. Taste: sweet agave tones upfront, rounding out to a peppery finish. This is a simple sipper, nothing really stood out to me. Not a bad tequila however. This would be a good mixing blanco.
