Love the Don Fulano line up but this one missed the mark for me. Maybe it's the raisin that leaves a long unpleasant taste for me and takes away from the agave to much.

The sweet sherry cask makes itself known, as does the pop from the higher proof. Fruity nose. Some raisin poking through the agave, bitter oak, and light caramel. I’m not usually a sherry cask fan but thankfully this didn’t overwhelm me. It’s generally overpriced but I got it for a good deal at a bar pour, and am happy I tried it.

This XA is a pleasure to smell taste and savor. The nose is nice and sweet with vanilla and caramel and baking spices. I get bananas and butterscotch. The taste is sweet with great barrel flavors. Nice and oaky, vanilla honey,

Next to the XA and the Fuerte, this is my favorite DF, so far. The nose is invitingly sweet with plum, agave, vanilla and caramel. I get notes of chocolate and oak. The taste is sweet agave, French oak, vanilla and caramel. A touch of alcohol on the tongue. Dried fruit, butterscotch. Finish is a touch bitter. Alcohol lingers but settles in and lingers with sweetness. I recommend and I enjoyed this better than most 1146 offerings but not the ArteNOM which I prefer over this one.

I love the nose on this one. Agave and nice barrel notes. I wish the taste matched the nose. The agave is almost drowned out with pepper and alcohol. Everything else is masked and hard to pull out. Maybe once this open up I will like it more. Just not my tequila at the moment. Maybe DF isn’t for me although I really did like their Fuerte.

Nose: earth/ mineral/ pepper / hint of banana/ hint of citrus / lemongrass / hay / hint of alcohol Taste: sweet agave / vanilla/ earth / cinnamon/ anise / banana / pear / cherry / orange/ grapefruit/ anise / spearmint/ hint of cream soda Finish: very light viscous mouthfeel/ very nice smoothness across the whole taste / cool water effect / lingering anise, agave, cinnamon notes This blanco has a lot of great flavors and aromas working together. It has a nice balance between the sweet and cinnamon spicy that provides a very gratifying experience. The nose is weak and the alcohol is a touch more prevalent than what should be for a well made 40% abv, but it’s not a point stealing issue. It’s good overall, but with a touch more refinement it could be next level.
