Alcohol, medicinal, astringent, fake fruit finish. This is what diffuser/column distilled tequila tastes like
I do not care for el jimador and never have liked it since i started drinking Tequila 20 yrs ago. my rating here on TMM is for their current diffuser crap. this being said, I tried a sample of the 2001 blanco, thanks to junior zander. here's my review for the 2001 blanco... the nose is fruity and pleasant. some yeast, a little agave on the palate and some pepper on the finish. I would rate this 2001 expression low 80s, which is much different than I rate their current juice. Note: Herradura was all stone/brick ovens and roller mill prior to the diffuser. Apparently, they installed the diffuser around 2001. so zander got one of the last good bottles!
Not great. Mostly alcohol. Weird finish and additives.
No nose, easy to shoot but has additives
Light amber in the glass. Aroma of vanilla that seems added, and a hint of cake batter. Flavor of vanilla, black pepper. There just isn't any agave flavor, Probably due to the diffuser process. Very little finish. This might appeal to a new tequila drinker.
On the nose, a touch of vanilla, ethanol and a bit of agave. Something vaguely chemical, not good but not overly offensive. On the palate, very bland. A little sweet but to be honest, it mostly doesn’t taste like much at all. It’s “smooth”, and doesn’t taste like tequila, but rather “tequila flavor”, if that makes sense. I can see why people buy this for shots, but it’s definitely not great.
Blind tastings are the best way to find out what you really like, free of marketing hype, bias, and previous experiences. They also give you the opportunity to experience tequila in a whole new way—using only your senses.
