Tau High Proof Aug 6, 2024 This was my first time trying any of the Tau expressions. Nose: at first I got anise and alcohol. As I let it sit and open, I got some mint and cinnamon, then tropical fruits = banana, mango. It keeps evolving! Palate: immediately got an explosion of sweet cooked agave, some cinnamon and cracked pepper Finish: long and warm with cinnamon and pepper Overall: I really enjoyed this one. At $80, it's good value. Thanks to Matt C for sharing a sample with me
The first nosing I was reminded of a childhood candy, bit-o-honey. With almond and honey notes. Upon deeper nosing, I did get plenty of agave, cinnamon and citrus. On the tongue, sweet agave is the first thing I taste. I get cinnamon, pepper and banana. Also some mint. The alcohol is present on the finish but not too overwhelming. This is another nice offering from 1414 who continues to roll out one great tequila after another.
Tau is very herbaceous and minty on the nose. There's a touch of lemon balm and grapefruit as well with very dominate cooked agave and minerality. light to medium bodied, I'm getting mint, herbs and cooked agave big time with hints of a sweet fruitiness not dissimilar to mango. Not bad at all!
Lou does a video review of the entire lineup of Tau Tequilas.
