The color is almost black in the bottle. I was scared to try it but it’s not horrible, just a gimmick. Concentrated barrel notes (prune, white chocolate, vanilla) but no agave, with a hot finish due to it’s high proof. Who is this for?
The color of this is super dark. It’s a Reposado but blended with Extra Añejo. It is aged in heavily charred French oak barrels. As a result, the agave is gone and so is the complexity. Aroma of chocolate, raisin or prune, and oak. Pretty basic aroma. Not horrible, but I wish there were layers of aroma here. Flavor is also heavy oak and dark chocolate. Again, not terrible. It’s also 50% abv, and that comes through in the finish, where it blends with barrel spice. It seems like they spent more time trying to make this super dark than super good.
