Nasty medicinal taste. Difusor tequila and it shows in every aspect of the product. This is worse than 100 Años.
Fruity aroma with hints of pineapple, apple and pear. Also, a noticeable astringent aroma beneath the fruit. Flavor is relatively non-descript with only slight hints of fruit from aroma plus a bit of spicy heat. Almost seems watered down. As expected from the flavor, the finish is short and unremarkable.
Very sweet on the nose, that was the first clue there was something else going on. On the palate, that fake sweetness was front & center followed by anise & some agave somewhere in the background. Not a very memorable drink, although it didn’t taste bad in a birthday cake kind of way….& I LOVE BIRTHDAY CAKE! Just not in my tequila.
At times reminiscent of the antiseptic edge of a fine single malt scotch, at times of the syrupy grenadine notes in a Shirley Temple, this tequila has a lingering sweetness that is a bit one-dimensional on the palate, but also pleasing, perhaps the result of the distiller process, which typically leaves out the classic roastiness imparted by traditional preparation methods.
