Tried at sabor y cultura Chicago. Enchanting, unique aroma. Excellent mouth feel. Heavy cinnamon notes. Finishes somewhat bitter. Unusual flavor profile overall with the barreling taking the lead role. Cool experiment, but a bit too far out there for me to reach for this one consistently.
This is more than a pretty bottle!! Nose is sweet, cinnamon, butter, light Apple, cooked agave. It just keeps opening up the longer it sits. Palette is similar to the nose, brings back old school cinnamon Fire ball candies as a kid. Finish- great mouth, cinnamon, cooked agave and great heat.
This is a very unique expression coming from the master Sergio Cruz. I let this one breathe a bit before diving in. There is a lot of cinnamon here. I almost get like a baked apple cinnamon on the nose and palate. The taste is very sweet up front then the black peeper comes in on the back end. A very different and enjoyable experience. Nose: cinnamon, vanilla, cooked agave, baking spice, apple, and barrel spice. Palate: cinnamon, vanilla, cooked agave, baking spice, apple, barrel spice, and black pepper. A very unique and enjoyable expression that is a must try.
Maple syrup, cinnamon bomb. banana and vanilla, Apple Jacks. A nose that just screams of sweetness. First taste this is amazing. It is a night out in the woods by the campfire. Apple pie with cinnamon,
Nose is maple syrup, vanilla, waffles, smells like breakfast! Amazing notes! Even banana in there, wow, pallet is same notes, good power, peppery, 53% amazingness
Vessel: Glencairn Nose: Vanilla, Cinnamon, Apple, Peach, Carmel, Sugar Taste: Vanilla, Cream Soda, Almond, Pepper, Apricot, Cinnamon Finish: Vanilla, Cinnamon, Cream, Almond, Marshmallow This was a BOLD thing to create. Whether you love or hate this release; it's undoubtedly one-of-a-kind. This one grew on me in time. It took about a week to fully appreciate it for what it is, a masterpiece that breaks the rules. This is probably one of the most unique sips I've had in a LONG time. I give Arturo lots of credit for taking this chance and making something completely different. I think we'll soon see a lot more Amburana projects from brands in the future... well.. maybe that's just wishful thinking ;)
Nose- Cherry, agave, anise, salt, oak, raisins Plate - agave, coconut, oak, and vanilla. Finish - really nice finish with a perfect abv
Lost Lore Reposado Amburana. This expression is a must try! It's very unique. I've never had anything like it. Immediately, I got cinnamon, almost like a churro or cinnamon toast with a mild apple flavor and some tropical notes. That kept me wanting more. It's delicious! Lost Lore, Sergio Cruz and the gang at 1414 did it again! Aged in Amburana barrels. Amburana wood, sometimes called "Brazilian oak," is a type of hardwood native to South America, particularly Brazil, used for barrel aging spirits like cachaça and increasingly whiskey. It's known for imparting a distinctive, cinnamon-forward flavor profile with notes of vanilla, floral, and tropical elements.
Flashbacks to Saturday Morning Cartoons sitting in front of the television with my buttered Cinnamon Toast. Cinnamon and cooked agave pack a punch with 53%, hitting you over the head like Roadrunner’s ACME anvil but in a very good way. Once this bottle is gone I’ll be hunting for this little blue Smurf screaming, “I’ll get you next time”, in extreme Gargamel fashion!!
Nose. Freshly baked warm Apple pie with loads of cinnamon. Cooked agave and a hint of the barrel. Hint of vanilla. Mulled wine. Taste: cooked agave. Cinnamon hearts for reals! Vanilla, anise. Buttered toast. Hint of maraschino cherries. Finish: nice tingling mouth feel with some spice and anise. As many have said very interesting and bold experiment that turned out great. Fresh crack and I think it’s just going to get better. Tasted in a GC in the north! Shout out to Forzza wines and spirits for getting us some in Canada.
Lost Lore Amburana Cask Strength Reposado…or as I like to say, nectar of the gods. I’m not even going to joke here. It’s stunningly good. Arturo Lamas and Sergio Cruz really put thought and love into this release and it shows. Nose - Wow. There’s a punch of vanilla and cinnamon, but the high proof really lets the agave come through so it’s not overpowered. Some other spices are coming through along with a touch of oak from the barrel, but these are just accents to the overall aroma. Everything is really well balanced. Palate - Sweet with agave and baking spices, maybe some of the cinnamon from the nose and nutmeg. Caramelized fruit like pear. A warm, spicy finish. It’s the kind of tequila you want to savor and enjoy on special occasions but that you also want to go back to as often as possible. Run, don’t walk, to pick this up. Or drive. That would probably be faster.
On the nose: It smells like a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch! It’s crazy. Cinnamon, white sugar, soft wood, toasted vanilla On the pallet: Cooked agave, cinnamon, baking spice, dried fruit, sweet & heat! This bottle is delicious. A masterclass in amburana. It’s there but not over powering and the heat from its 106-proof is beautifully balanced with its sweetness and flavor! I got it for $90 and for that, it’s a great value. Plus the bottle looks gorgeous on my shelf. Highly recommend grabbing one of the 1900 bottles produced if you can find one!
Aroma: Cinnamon and vanilla leap out immediately from the Amburana wood, backed by roasted agave, and a subtle baking spice. Taste: Notes of sweet baking spice, honey, dried fruit, and cooked agave. The depth of flavor is incredible. Finish: Long and spicy with a lingering warmth. Overall: A unique and expressive cask-strength reposado.
