This XA probably took 14-15 yrs to come to market as a finish product. The 6yr XA was very good, the extra yr in French wine barrel adds a whole other dimension. There are so many layers to this release. Not sure if it will ever be reproduced. Price a side, the craftsmanship and the blending process is pure genius.

Really nice! Got to try a glass for a reasonable price at a bar. This bottle is very expensive and suffers in my view for the high cost. But the juice is really tasty. I like this one better than the 6yr, must be the extra year in French that gives it another layer.

Nose of sweet fruits like apple and pair. I can smell the barrel notes from the cognac. Very pleasant on the nose with nothing that overwhelms the overall presentation. The taste very much mirrors the nose. There is some agave notes but the barrel has done its magic to bring forth fruits, caramel, cognac, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is very nice and this is an excellent sipper and would complement a great dessert after a fine dining experience.

G4 Extra Anejo 7 Years offers a sophisticated tasting journey, aged an extra year in cognac and ex-wine German barrels. On the nose, it exudes elegant aromas of apples and pears, complemented by light oak and a touch of rancio, evoking a vintage sensation. The palate is a rollercoaster of flavors, starting with sweet baking spices and nutmeg, transitioning to fruity and floral notes with hints of pitted red fruits and orange Cara Cara peel. Subtle undertones of leather and tobacco add depth, making each sip a complex and memorable experience. Unsure of the price at the moment, assuming will be around $500 price range.

A little more barrel than I’d like (vs the 5yr), but otherwise really good

LEXP02XA42, bottled on 02/07/2024, tasted on 10-26-24. Color: light brown. Aroma: sweet cooked agave, cooked red apples, hint of cinnamon with spicy sensation, hint of camphor burl, light wood note, hint of vanilla, acidity, hint of citrus, light burnt caramel, as time goes by the wood note becomes more noticeable and barrel spices emerge. Piloncillo. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet & sour balance, on my retronasal the wood note and barrel spice is quite active and dominating. Vanilla. Finish is medium to long, light sweet cooked agave, cooked red apples, barrel spice, hint of vanilla with slightly dominating wood note persists. Ends a tad dry. Note to self: drink this tequila sooner than later after serving it. 1,300th rating.

A special pour. Hints of apple, pear and dried fruit. Lots of spice and cinnamon with layers of oak. Even for being 7 years in barrels there is still agave notes present. Another excellent tequila from Felipe and El Pandillo!
